On 7/27/2025 I was dispatched to the intersection of Little McCall Rd. and Courthouse Rd. in reference to a hit and run that had reportedly just occurred. After a brief search for the offender vehicle I made contact with the complainant, [VICTIM #1], DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1998.
[VICTIM #1] stated that he and a black 4 door sedan had approached the intersection around the same time but he came to a stop first and therefore proceeded through the intersection. [VICTIM #1] states that this is when the other vehicle entered the intersection, striking the rear quarter pannel of his vehicle before speeding away.
Cpl. Hutto was able to match the vehicle description given by the complainant to a vehicle captured on FLOCK in the surrounding area. Using this information he was further able to trace the vehicle to [100 BLOCK] Colonial Way in Springfield.
Springfield Officer Ogrady went to the house and confirmed that the vehicle we were looking for was at the residence and had damage consistent with the accident according to [VICTIM #1]’s account of events. Cpl. Hutto arrived moments later and made contact with the only person at the residence at the time, Eboni Richards, DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/2000. Richards admitted to Cpl. Hutto that she had just been driving the vehicle and did pass through the area where the accident occurred but denied that she had been involved in an accident.
I arrived at the residence shortly behind Cpl. Hutto at which time Richards was placed under arrest and transported to the Effingham County Jail to be booked.
