On 7/27/2025 while conducting a direct patrol of Reedsville Rd. I discovered a green Toyota Tacoma, Ga. Tag [REDACTED], obstructing the roadway facing the wrong direction. Upon further inspection, the cab light was on but no occupants were located inside or near the vehicle and the driver’s side wheel appeared to have broken loose, making the vehicle inoperable.

While searching the immediate area for occupants I discovered drag marks left by the vehicle leading back to the driveway of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Reedsville Rd. At the driveway I could see small dislodged parts of the vehicle as well as a mailbox and a fence that appeared to have been struck and destroyed by the vehicle after the vehicle left the roadway. This coincided with the damage to the vehicle.

Running the tag on the vehicle through NCIC revealed the registered owner to be Jeremy McCarr, DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1991, of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Reedsville Rd. Cpl. Hutto went to the address in an attempt to make contact with McCarr while I waited with the vehicle. Cpl. Hutto made contact with McCarr’s father who stated that McCarr was staying at his grandfather’s house across the street at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Reedsville Rd. Cpl Hutto made contact with the residents of that address and was told that McCarr was inside in a bedroom. Cpl. Hutto also remarked that he had located McCarr’s pants and a backpack on the porch of the residence.

At this time Cpl. Hutto called for me to meet him at the residence to collect McCarr. Upon my arrival I found Cpl. Hutto standing at the door to the bedroom issuing verbal commands for McCarr to get dressed and exit the bedroom while another black male laid asleep on the floor of the room. McCarr reluctantly complied and was placed under arrest without incident. It was noted while speaking to McCarr that his words were heavily slurred and he swayed heavily from side to side.

McCarr remained calm until his father arrived at the residence at which time McCarr became irate, screaming at his father and banging his head against the door of my patrol car. McCarr stopped once his father entered the residence and was no longer visible to him.

With McCarr in custody the residents of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Reedsville then requested that McCarr’s guest be removed from the residence as well as he was not welcome to stay. At this time our attention turned to the guest and while attempting to wake him a black Taurus GX2 handgun, SN: AGG312750 was located on the floor on his immediate left. Before fully waking the second subject Cpl. Hutto took the firearm and handed it to me to be cleared.

Once cleared and placed out of reach we briefly woke the male subject who identified himself as Mitchell Goldwire, DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1991 before falling asleep again. Cpl. Hutto requested dispatch perform a criminal history check on Goldwire and notify him of any prior felony convictions. Dispatch informed us that Goldwire was in fact a convicted felon. At this time another unit was requested to assist in arresting Goldwire as it was anticipated that he would become physically aggressive when woken for the purpose of being placed under arrest.

Sgt. West arrived on scene to assist with the arrest at which time the three of us entered the bedroom and placed Goldwire in handcuffs before he had an opportunity to resist. Goldwire woke from his sleep, was informed that he was being placed under arrest, and escorted to Cpl. Hutto’s patrol car.

At this time Cpl. Hutto examined the contents of the backpack found on the porch of the residence and located inside an orange pill bottle with McCarr’s name on it labeled for 300mg Ibuprofen. Once opened the bottle smelled strongly of marijuana. Inside the pill bottle were two white oval pills marked “M365” and a pack of Tops rolling papers. The pills were discovered to contain hydrocodone, making them a schedule II controlled substance.

Both McCarr and Goldwire were transported to the Effingham County Jail to be booked.
