Savannah’s Ta Ca Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar closes following second unsatisfactory health score

CHATHAM COUNTY Ta Ca Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar, located at 513 E Oglethorpe Ave in Savannah, received a score of 69 points out of a possible 100 points during their 09/08/2022 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

This is a follow up inspection following a 51% just 8 days prior.

According to the inspection report, the restaurant has voluntarily closed. A formal hearing will be conducted on September 12th at 9:30am.

Inspector Notes: Observed hand washing sinks in bar area to have food and dirty glasses within them. Observed hand washing sink in main kitchen to have rice in it. COS CA: PIC removed dishware from sinks and cleaned handwashing sinks. RCA: PIC shall restrict use of handwashing sinks. A handwashing facility may not be used for purposes other than handwashing

Inspector Notes: Observed raw salmon being stored next to raw beef in reach in cooler by grill. Observed RTE products (edamame and cooked beef) being stored below raw products (fish and beef). COS: CA: PIC rearranged reach in cooler to place raw beef below edamame and cooked ground beef. Raw salmon was placed in walk in cooler.

Inspector Notes: Observed soda dispensers in attachment area above soda nozzles to have build-up. RCA: PIC shall increase the cleaning frequency of soda machine, dispenser area and nozzles to reduce build-up of debris. Equipment food-contact surfaces and utensils shall be clean to sight and touch.

Inspector Notes: Observed sushi roller mat wrapped in soiled plastic wrap. Upon inquiry PIC stated that plastic wrap has not changed frequently. The last change was two days prior. COS CA: PIC discarded plastic wrap and cleaned and sanitized sushi roller mats. RCA: PIC shall increase the cleaning frequency of sushi roller mat and change plastic wrap as needed.

Inspector Notes: Observed bowls without handlings being used as scoops stored in panko bread crumbs and in rice in main kitchen. COS CA: PIC removed all scoops. RCA: Single serve bowls/cups cannot be used as scoops. Scoops shall be stored in food with their handles above the top of the food within container.
