On May 27th 2026, I was dispatched to the area of Maple Ave and E 12 St Rome Ga 30161 in response to a male blasting music and screaming.

Upon my arrival, I saw the later identified offender/arrestee, Anthony Hightower, walking on the corner of Maple and E 12th, screaming and playing music very loudly. I told Anthony to give me his ID and he pulled out his wallet and threw it at me. I told him to pick up the wallet and hand me his ID. Anthony walked over, picked up the wallet, and handed it to me. I then told Anthony that he needed to turn his music down and he refused.

Anthony said that he would “close his door” but he would not turn the music down. Anthony then walked toward where the music was coming from and it was a vehicle parked behind a house. I again told Anthony to turn the music down. Anthony said that he was not bothering anyone. I told him he had two options, turn the music off and go home for the night, or go to jail. Anthony looked at me and said “you’re going to have to take me to jail, I am not turning the music down.”

I then told Anthony to turn around and placed him in handcuffs, checked them for fit, double locked them and escorted him to my marked patrol vehicle with the rear Axon camera activated. I asked Anthony if he had anything in his pockets that could hurt me and Anthony did not want to answer. Eventually he said no all I have is deodorant.

During the search a golden yellow crumb like substance was uncovered in Anthony’s right pocket. I asked my supervisor to live stream my body camera to see if he could identify the substance. My supervisor advised me that it appeared to be THC wax, but we would conduct a field test on it before making any potential charges.

Anthony was placed in the back of my car and was transported to the Floyd County Sheriffs Office where he was booked on a fact sheet.

I met with my supervisor and the field tests were inconclusive or negative for THC. I will be submitting the substance to GBI for testing to verify. As it stands, no charges are being taken out for the substance until I hear back from the GBI testing lab.

Backseat cleared post arrest.
