On the above date and time I, Ofc Talley, along with multiple other officers responded to [500 BLOCK] Woods Rd in reference to a fight call. Dispatch had received at least two calls regarding this incident. One complainant, [WITNESS #1], had called in and stated Christopher Ridings had been drinking and was acting erratic. A neighbor had also called in and stated Christopher was on the front porch of his residence at [500 BLOCK] Woods Rd.
Dispatch advised us that Christopher was bleeding from his head and had EMS en route to stage near the scene. When we arrived on scene we observed Christopher Ridings in the front yard at [500 BLOCK] Woods Rd. Christopher had no shirt or shoes on and he was pacing around in the front yard holding his cell phone. Ofc Smith and Ofc Jenkins attempted to speak to Christopher to calm him down. Christopher continued to approach Ofc Smith and when asked to back up he continued acting erratic and told us to leave multiple times.
Christopher walked back up on the porch of [500 BLOCK] Woods Rd and walked around to the back of the residence yelling. Christopher continued walking back toward his residence while yelling at someone on the phone. At one point Christopher walked back down the driveway toward officers and we asked him if he would like to be seen by EMS due to the cut on his face and he waved his arm at us and walked back toward his house. At this point we could still here Christopher yelling.
[WITNESS #1] was not at the residence, so we were not sure what had occurred. We were able to get in contact with [WITNESS #1] and she stated she was at the end of the driveway, but was unable to get in the driveway. Myself and Ofc Jenkins walked down to speak with her and the other parties involved to try and figure out what was going on.
Myself and Ofc Jenkins spoke to [WITNESS #1] who stated she was cutting up a watermelon and Christopher had walked up, grabbed the knife out of her hand, and cut himself on the face. [WITNESS #1] stated he had thrown all of the watermelon out into the front yard. [WITNESS #1] had stated there were allegations that he had touched [VICTIM #1] and that is what caused this whole argument. [WITNESS #1] stated Christopher had been drinking and was acting erratic, so they got into the car and left the scene. [WITNESS #1] stated that [REDACTED] is the mother of [VICTIM #1]. [REDACTED] was on the phone walking around and we asked her if we had her permission to speak to [VICTIM #1] and she stated yes.
[VICTIM #1] was sitting in the front seat of the car and I asked her if she could explain to me what had taken place. [VICTIM #1] explained that Christopher was very close to her and was whispering in her ear that her cousin liked her. [VICTIM #1] stated that she did not like that and thought it was very weird that he would say something like that to her. [VICTIM #1] stated that Christopher put his hands on her outer thighs and ran his hands around and touched her buttocks. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was trying to push him away and he grabbed her outer thighs again and squeezed them to where it hurt her. [VICTIM #1] stated that she pushed him away and ran out of the door. [VICTIM #1] stated that during this interaction she felt very uncomfortable and scared.
After speaking with [VICTIM #1] I went back to speak with Sgt Henry, Ofc Smith and Ofc Jenkins and we determined that we had enough to charge him with Sexual Battery. We began to try and locate Christopher since he had walked off somewhere into the woods. [WITNESS #1] ended up walking up the driveway and she was advised to stay back. [WITNESS #1] stated that it was her residence and she could go to her house if she wanted to. We advised her that there were multiple officers up there and she needed to stay where she was.
[WITNESS #1] continued to try and get past us multiple times and was stating that she did not want us to kill him or arrest him. [WITNESS #1] stated that everything that the child told me was a lie. [WITNESS #1] was on the phone with Christopher and she was telling him to stop yelling and hide because we were looking for him. [WITNESS #1] was detained by Ofc Jenkins based on her attempting to obstruct officers in locating Christopher. We were able to determine the general location of where Christoper was due to the fact that he was still yelling. Christopher was located in a brush of bamboo and he eventually walked out and was ordered to get down on the ground on his stomach to which he complied.
Christopher was placed under arrest without further incident. Christopher was placed into the back seat of the patrol car where EMS came to look at the cut on his face. EMS stated they could transport him or that we could take him to the hospital. Christopher stated that he did not want to go. Christopher stated that he wanted to speak to us about the incident.
Ofc Smith read Christopher his miranda rights and Christopher stated he did not wish to speak to us any longer. A few minutes later Christopher stated he did want to speak to us and that he did not touch any child due to that not being his type and Christopher continued rambling on. At one point Christopher did state that he didn’t mean anything by touching her.
Christopher was transported to the Floyd County Jail where deputies had him go to medical for the nurse to look at the cut on his head. The nurse stated he would have to be taken to Floyd Medical to be cleared before being booked into the jail. Christopher advised them that he did not want to the hospital and for them to put a bandage on it.
I then transported Christopher to Floyd Medical ER. While at the hospital Christopher would get anger and yell, but would calm down and start crying. Christopher was given a CT scan and stitches for the cut on his head. Christopher was cleared from the hospital and I transported him back to the Floyd County Jail where he was booked in on Sexual Battery against a child under the age of 16.
