On June 30, 2026 at approximately 3:41am. I was dispatched to a 911 hang up call located at [REDACTED]. Prior to my arrival Capt. Bohannon arrived on scene to assist. Once I arrived I observed Capt. Bohannon placing Michael Messer Jr. into handcuffs for an unknown reason. Capt. Bohannon advised he was just detaining him pending further investigation.
I then made contact with other occupants of the household one being [VICTIM #1] who was a victim in this case. [VICTIM #1] came to the door with blood and abrasions all over her face, neck, and arms. While speaking with [VICTIM #1] she advised that Michael came to her home demanding a ride to the Circle K in garden lakes. She advised that she gave him a ride there and once there he attacked her, striking her about the face, scratching and biting her as well. [VICTIM #1] sustained several injuries in this incident. Notably to her left ear lobe where he ripped her earring out causing visible disfigurement, and a bite mark on her left wrist.
[VICTIM #1] advised that they then returned to her home where he continued this behavior and destroyed two of her flower pots all in the presence of a twelve year old juvenile. At this time I advised Capt. Bohannon that we would have charges.
At this time Capt. Bohannon officially placed Michael under arrest and placed him in the back of my patrol car. While speaking with [VICTIM #1] she advised that Michael and her have been in a prior relationship but no longer were. I also spoke with two other witnesses that were on scene as well.
Once I finished my interaction with [VICTIM #1] and the other residents, I returned to my patrol car. At this time I escorted Michael to the Floyd County jail. While en route to the Jail Michael continuously called me derogatory names. He also head-butted the cage in my patrol car a few times.
Once at the Jail Michael was extracted from my patrol car with no further incident. Once inside of the jail he was examined by medical staff and it was concluded that he didn’t need any further treatment, stating that he had a small abrasion on the bridge of his nose that caused him to bleed. At this time I completed my paperwork and left the Jail.
Michael will be charged with Aggravated Battery FVA for causing disfigurement to [VICTIM #1]’s left ear lobe, Battery FVA for biting and scratching [VICTIM #1] causing many other abrasions about her face, neck, and arms, Criminal Trespass Damage to Property FVA for destroying property of [VICTIM #1]’s, and Cruelty to Children in the third degree for allowing a minor to witness an act of family violence.
Handcuffs checked for fit and double locked.
Backseat cleared before and after transport.
