On above date and time I Pfc McCormick was working a security detail at Advent Health Hospital in the Emergency Room at 501 Redmond Rd. At the beggining of shift I was made aware of a family member of a patient in the ER had been banned earlier for making threats to staff and that she had advised that she would be back later. At 2100 hours a female entered the waiting room and advised that she was Toyna Eliane Deems and was going to get information on and see her mother. Ms Deems was very loud and animated and cussing constantly.
She was advised to stop cussing and the next time She cussed in the waiting room she would be charged due to other people coming in to check in to be seen. The receptionist then went and made contact with the charge nurse. Charge Nurse [REDACTED] then walked up front and requested me to walk around the corner with her. At this point she informed me that this was the female that had been banned for threating staff earlier in the day. She was then asked to leave and she began to become confrontational. I walked around and advised her that if she did not like the issue then she could contact hospital admin in the morning and appeal the issue.
She proceeded to cuss and cause a scene in front of patients. I followed her out and told her to leave the grounds and to stop causing a scene. At this point she advised that she was going to call the police and proceeded to call me a “No Badge having security guard”. I advised her that she was going to now be charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass since she was refusing to leave after being told to and after already showing up after being banned by the hospital and advised not to show back up on the property.
At this point she then tried to run front the Er entrance to the parking lot. While doing so she was staggering and stopped after roughly 20 feet. I then grabbed her left wrist and informed her to place her hands behind her back. At this point she began to actively resist and proceeded to yell and continue to cause a scene. I went over the radio and advised dispatch to send me a city unit due to them being closer to me then a county unit for transport. She then began to pull away and we were heading to one of the supports for the cover of the entrance. I maintained control of her wrist and upon her making it to the support I placed her against it and placed her right hand behind her back and placed handcuffs on her.
By this point City Officers and Pfc Bray with Floyd County Police arrived on scene. She was placed in the back of Pfc Brays vehicle and I filled out booking paperwork. Pfc Bray then transported Ms Deems to Floyd County Jail for booking.
