On Wednesday June 3, 2026 at around 1354 hrs I, Ofc. M. Howell responded to Police Headquarters regarding a Simple Battery against a pregnant woman that occurred between 05/30/2026 2200 hrs and 05/31/2026 0200 hrs at Good Ol’ Days 419 Atlanta Rd Cumming GA 30040.

I met with the victim, [VICTIM #1], who is a bartender at Good Ol’ Days. She stated that on Saturday night (05/30/2026) an unknown white male suspect came behind the bar and pushed her into the bar. She showed me two video’s on her phone of the surveillance footage from that night. The video’s are two different angles of the bar. In the footage you see the suspect wearing a dark colored shirt and black shorts, walk toward the opening to the bar, he crouched down when the victim started walking back toward him. The victim turned and went back to the other side of the bar and then suspect then creep up behind her, using both hands to shove her with enough force to propel her forward and fall face forward across the bar. As a result of th shove, the victim’s abdomen struck the edge of the bar with significant force. The victim was seven months pregnant at the time of the incident, and the suspect knew or reasonably should have known of her condition.

The victim turned and pointed at the suspect and a male bartender escorted the suspect out from behind the bar. The bar security then escorted the suspect out of the building after obtaining a picture of the suspect’s GA driver’s license. Security provided the digital photo to the victim. The OLN photo of the suspect appeared to be thin and the suspect in the video appeared to be more heavy set. I asked if she was sure the person on the license was the suspect. She stated he is more heavy but it is the same face.

The victim claimed that she was shocked from the incident and went home. She went to her doctor’s office for an exam of the fetus and was informed that she and the fetus were ok. I asked the victim to email the video’s to my work email address. I wrote down the suspect’s OLN and later ran it through GCIC on my mobile computer. The suspect, John Carnes DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY] /2002 lives at [5500 BLOCK] Canterberry Glen Ct Cumming GA 30040.

I provided the victim with a case number and advised her that I would call her with any updates.

I later drove by the suspect’s residence and observed one vehicle in the driveway. I ran the license plate through GCIC and received a return for a [REDACTED], who was later identified as his mother. I did not obtain a warrant at this time due to the size difference from the OLN photo and the video.

On Thursday June 4, 2026 at around 0640 AM Cpl. Sammander and I went to the suspect’s address and made contact with the suspect and his mother. I asked if he was at Good Ol’ Days Saturday night and he answered that he was. I asked if he could remember an incident from that night and he stated he remembered getting kicked out of the bar. The suspect standing before me is the same suspect that was on the surveillance footage and is the same suspect from the OLN. I informed him that he put his hands on a pregnant woman and that she wanted to press charges against him. I informed him that he was under arrest and Cpl. Sammander placed him in handcuffs, checked for fit, double locked them and searched his person incident to arrest. Cpl. Sammander then secured the suspect in the rear passenger area of my patrol vehicle.

I provided his mother, [REDACTED], a business card with the case number and then left the residence to transport the suspect to the Forsyth County Detention Center.

Upon arrival I transferred custody of the suspect to the Deputy Sheriff without incident. My patrol unit was searched prior to and after transport. No illegal substances or contraband was located in the vehicle.

I later obtained and executed warrant #CE-0156813 for violation of GA Code 16-5-23(C) Simple Battery against a female who is pregnant at the time of the offense.

Both video’s will be uploaded to Evidence.com.
