On April 12, 2025, at approximately 1:50 PM, I, Deputy C. Jump #545, was dispatched to [1000 BLOCK] Orchard Road regarding a reported physical domestic incident that had already taken place. I responded without lights or sirens in marked patrol unit #524.
Upon my arrival, I met the victim, [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] explained that he had been fishing at the bridge on Hwy 136 with his brother, Chase Andrew Baggs, identified as the “offender”. [VICTIM #1] said their friend [WITNESS #1] picked them up to take them home. [VICTIM #1] stated that [WITNESS #1] and Chase were dropping him off at his residence at [1000 BLOCK] Orchard Lane. He recounted that after exiting the vehicle, he exchanged words with Chase outside. [VICTIM #1] reported that Chase head-butted him in the facial area, resulting in superficial injuries and damage to his prescribed glasses, valued at $500 or more. [VICTIM #1] mentioned that [WITNESS #1] and Chase left the scene in a white 2013 Jeep Patriot. A medical unit assessed [VICTIM #1]’s injuries, but he declined transport to the hospital, signing a refusal. Later, Cpl. R Sawyer #546 provided [VICTIM #1] with a courtesy ride to Piedmont Ellijay for further evaluation, where a doctor later confirmed he had a fractured nose.
Deputy Z. Harter-Ray #526 was en route to a location where Chase might be found. While on the way, Deputy Harter-Ray spotted the vehicle that Chase and [WITNESS #1] had used. A traffic stop was conducted at the Food Lion grocery store. Upon my arrival at the scene, I spoke with the driver, [WITNESS #1], and inquired about their where abouts. [WITNESS #1] stated they had come from Wildcat Creek Drive after dropping Chase off at his camper. He explained that he had picked up both Chase and [VICTIM #1] to take them home. [WITNESS #1] recounted that when Chase attempted to enter the front seat, [VICTIM #1] confronted him, leading to a physical altercation. According to [WITNESS #1], Chase knocked [VICTIM #1] down, and when Chase tried to leave, [VICTIM #1] pushed him into the car twice. [WITNESS #1] indicated that he and Chase departed after the second push.
