On 7/21/2026 at 2012 hours I responded to the area of Highway 82 and Wilkes Lane in reference to a single vehicle accident. Dispatch advised the vehicle was a black truck that was overturned in a ditch.

Upon my arrival, I observed a black Ford Raptor with a Georgia license plate of [REDACTED] overturned in the ditch on the southbound lane of Highway 82 and the truck was facing north. I observed a white male and a black female standing near the passenger side of the truck. While approaching the two individuals, I observed the female to have a swollen left eye and she had a complaint of head pain. I called for squad to come check her out for a head injury. She told me she was not wearing her seatbelt. EMS transported the female to the hospital for treatment. She was identified as [REDACTED].

The male who identified himself as the driver of the truck, Austin Bracewell, stated he was driving north on Highway 82 in the right-hand lane, and he got an eyelash in his eye. He said his girlfriend was attempting to blow the eyelash out of his eye when he ran off the right side of the road. He said he overcorrected and lost control of the truck and went into the median before crossing into oncoming traffic and into the ditch on the southbound side of Highway 82. He said when the truck went into the ditch, it rolled one time onto the roof. While speaking with Austin, I could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath, and his eyes were glossy. I also observed a blue Cayman Jack alcoholic beverage inside of the truck.

I asked Austin if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages this afternoon. He told me he had three and a half tall boy Angry Orchards while on the beach. I asked him if he was willing to conduct some field sobriety exercises for me? He told me he would. I walked him to the front of my patrol vehicle and began the Standard Field Sobriety Test. My observations are below.

Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus- Austin was having trouble keeping his head still.

Lack of smooth pursuit: Observed
Distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation: Observed
Distinct and sustained nystagmus prior to 45 degrees: Observed

Walk and Turn- I did not observe any clues in this stage.

One Leg Stand- I did not observe any clues in this stage.

I informed Austin he was under arrest for driving under the influence less safe. I handcuffed him and placed him in the back seat of my patrol car. I read him Georgia Implied Consent and asked for a blood draw. Austin agreed to the blood draw. I transported him to Georgia Southeast Health System for the blood draw and a jail clearance. Once the blood draw was completed and he was cleared, I transported him to the Glynn County Detention Center to book him. I completed the ABIS and two citations. I released him to jail staff. Ofc. Sullivan stood by the truck and waited for Tiger Towing to pick the truck up.
