On May 23rd, 2026 at approximately 9:07 PM myself (#403) and Officer Jenkins (#429) responded to an assault at [20 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes, Brunswick GA 31520. The description given of the alleged offender was an eighteen year old black male with a long sleeve red jacket and black shorts.

Upon arrival, I observed multiple individuals outside the front of the complex, with a black male matching the description of the suspect walking from the southern end of the complex towards [20 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes. We called him over and had him sit down on the curb, asking him to explain what the situation was. He was identified as eighteen year old Corey Morman. Mr. Morman explained that his younger sister, [WITNESS #1], complained to him that the older male at [20 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes, later identified as Christopher Knowles, kept “messing” with them.

[WITNESS #1] then explained that her and her friends were outside of the complex playing football when Mr. Knowles’s daughter, later identified as [WITNESS #2], began yelling at them. When [WITNESS #1] responded back to [WITNESS #2] to “please be quiet,” [WITNESS #2] told her father that [WITNESS #1] was being mean to her. Mr. Knowles then confronted the group, yelling at [WITNESS #1] and her friends to get away from his porch. When Mr. Knowles began yelling at [WITNESS #1] and her friends, [WITNESS #1] went and told her brother (Mr. Morman) who then confronted Mr. Knowles. Allegedly, during the confrontation between Mr. Morman and Mr. Knowles, Mr. Knowles had called Mr. Morman “the N-word.”

Mr. Morman continued his side of the story. He said that he approached Mr. Knowles about the situation, where Mr. Morman then moved his braids from his face and told Mr. Knowles to “remember this face” because he lives at [30 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes, but commented that he didn’t mean it as a threat. Mr. Knowles then moved inside of Mr. Morman’s personal space. I had Mr. Morman demonstrate what he thought his personal space was by stepping closer to me, speaking face to face.

Mr. Knowles then told Mr. Morman that he’s taking it as a threat, and began yelling and being loud towards Mr. Morman. Mr. Morman felt as though he was getting too close to him, and was “roughing up” on him. Mr. Morman was unable to provide any details about what exactly was being said. It was at this time, while Mr. Knowles was yelling, that Mr. Morman “slapped the sh*t out of him.” During his explanation of the events, he said he felt as though he was being disrespected and had to “stand his ground” as a man.

After listening to Mr. Morman’s retelling of the events, I approached Mr. Knowles to get his statements. Mr. Knowles remarked that they have had issues with Mr. Morman’s sister [WITNESS #1] before. Mr. Knowles says that his daughter, [WITNESS #2], was sitting at the window talking to a friend that she knows when [WITNESS #1] began telling her that she was “annoying.”

Mr. Knowles then approached and told [WITNESS #1] and the other kids to get away from his backdoor because they had already been warned once to leave [WITNESS #2] alone (by the housing authority). He then got [WITNESS #2] away from the window, and everything was quiet. After a few moments, Mr. Morman showed up “beating” on Mr. Knowles’s door. Mr. Knowles answered the door, and Mr. Morman began asking about who was bothering his baby sister [WITNESS #1].

Mr. Knowles told Mr. Morman that nobody had said anything to his sister, but that he told the whole crowd to leave [WITNESS #2] alone because they like to mess with her and was already warned by the housing authority not to mess with her, not to speak to her, and to be in their separate spaces. Mr. Knowles then explained that Mr. Morman parted his braids and said to “remember this face.” Mr. Knowles told him “don’t try and threaten me,” which is when Mr. Morman reached out and slapped him.

Mr. Knowles showed us his right arm, where there were two scratch marks that were bleeding. Mr. Knowles explained that Mr. Morman’s nails caught his arm during the slap. There were no apparent injuries to his face.

After the slap, Mr. Morman turned away and began walking off. Mr. Knowles then made comments such as “I got something for you my boy,” to which Mr. Morman responded that he had a knife. Mr. Knowles went inside the house to retrieve a tire iron, when we showed up moments later. Mr. Knowles then expressed to me that he “knows the law” and if Mr. Morman were to come back to his house while he had the tire iron, it was “fair game.”

After Mr. Knowles’s statements, we were given permission by Mr. Knowles to interview his daughter [WITNESS #2] for statements regarding what was going on. She explained that she was talking to her friend [REDACTED] (Unknown spelling) at her window on the second story when [WITNESS #1] asked her if she could be quiet. [WITNESS #2] responded to [WITNESS #1], telling her that she was not trying to talk to her. This made [WITNESS #1] start yelling at her through her window. She did not elaborate on what was being said, only that they argued for a few moments, which lead [WITNESS #1] to go and get her brother Mr. Morman.

Mr. Morman came and “banged” on the back door of the house, which lead to Mr. Knowles and him to begin arguing on the back porch. She explains Mr. Morman was asking about who was yelling at his little sister, and Mr. Knowles and his wife explained [WITNESS #1] was cussing and being disrespectful to [WITNESS #2]. The wife, Mrs. [WITNESS #3], asked them to leave as well. Mr. Morman then, pulling his braids back, made the statement of “you should remember this face – I got a knife for you” to Mr. Knowles. This altercation eventually lead to Mr. Morman striking Mr. Knowles.

She did not view the actual attack, but heard her mother yell when Mr. Knowles was struck. She continued to explain that Mr. Knowles, after being struck, said, “I got something for you” to Mr. Morman. He went inside to grab his tire iron, and said “‘c’ mere, why you runnin?” Mr. Knowles proceeded to “chase after him” while Mr. Morman was “running to his backdoor.” She finished her statements by saying that was all that she remembered. I confirmed that, according to her, Mr. Knowles made it somewhere between apartment [REDACTED] and apartment [REDACTED] with the tire iron prior to us arriving on scene.

After [WITNESS #2]’s statements, we interviewed the wife, [WITNESS #3]. Mrs. [WITNESS #3] explained that [WITNESS #2] was in her window speaking with one of the kids outside when the “little girl,” identified as [WITNESS #1] from all previous witness statements, began speaking disrespectfully to [WITNESS #2]. Mr. Knowles went to the back door and told the group that they need to get away from the Knowles’s back door because they had already been warned. [WITNESS #1], once again described as “the little girl” in Mrs. [WITNESS #3]’s statements, began “going off and what not.”

It was after this argument that Mr. Morman arrived and began “beating” on the back door like he was “one of you guys (the police) trying to bust in the door.” Mr. Morman then started questioning what their “deal” with his little sister was. Mr. Knowles then attempted to explain what was going on when things began to get a little “heated.” She did not identify what words exactly were being used in the argument. Mrs. [WITNESS #3] then headed back inside, leaving Mr. Knowles and Mr. Morman on the back porch together.

A few moments later, Mr. Knowles yelled to Mrs. [WITNESS #3] to “call the law – the motherfu*ker just hit me.” Mrs. [WITNESS #3] then called 911. As she was doing this, Mr. Knowles came through the back door and grabbed his tire iron. She told him “no no no no” because she didn’t want to see Mr. Morman get hurt. I confirmed that, according to her, Mr. Morman walked away after striking Mr. Knowles and that Mr. Knowles went back outside after grabbing the tire iron, stepping out only onto the back porch.

Finally, we took a statement from Mr. Morman’s girlfriend, eighteen year old [WITNESS #4]. Miss. [WITNESS #4] explained that [WITNESS #1] entered the house and said that a “mean man” was “saying stuff to me.” Mr. Morman then went to apartment [REDACTED] to knock on the door, not “bang” on the door. After his second knocking attempt, Mr. Knowles opened the door and began explaining what was going on. She did not elaborate on specific statements or actions.

She says that Mr. Knowles became threatened when Mr. Morman told Mr. Knowles “remember my face, we stay in number [REDACTED].” Mr. Knowles then “came close to his face,” where she felt it was close enough to be described as being within his “personal space.” She went on to say that Mr. Knowles was saying “the N-word” to them, and was being very disrespectful. During this confrontation, she saw Mr. Morman strike Mr. Knowles. She said that Mr. Knowles made a statement about having a gun as well, but she did not physically see what he went inside and grabbed.

Based on witness testimonies as well as physical evidence of an attack on Mr. Knowles, Mr. Morman was placed under arrest at 9:50 PM for the offense of Battery (OCGA 16-5-23.1). Based on the same testimonies, we identified that Mr. Knowles and Mr. Morman had originally separated after the strike, but comments made by Mr. Knowles during the altercation, his retrieval of the tire iron, and his going back outside to continue the dispute while Mr. Morman was walking back home, was cause for concern as well.

Mr. Knowles was placed under arrest at 9:58 PM for Disorderly Conduct (Brunswick Municipal Code Sec. 16-22(b)). The code reads: “A person commits the offense of disorderly conduct when he remains in any place where there is disagreement being expressed between persons for the purpose of causing, provoking, or engaging in a fight or brawl.”

Officer Corrigan (#497) transported Mr. Knowles to the CDC while Officer Jenkins and I transported Mr. Morman to the CDC. Both vehicles left at approximately 10:05 PM, and arrived at the CDC for processing at approximately 10:11 PM.
