On 07/19/26 at approximately 0135 hours, I was standing by Ziggy’s (206 Retreat Village) when I heard arguing at the entrance of the Bar.
Upon arrival, I saw two black male adults having a heated argument with the bouncers at the bar. A bouncer told me these people need to leave. I heard the bouncers telling them to leave multiple times and they were not leaving.
I approached Jerry Centeno and shook his hand. Jerry appeared to be very upset and told me that his girl is still inside the bar and they want to get them from inside. I told Jerry he needs to go out to the parking lot and his girl will come out to him. Jerry did not want to listen to me and continued to raise his voice. I told Jerry to leave multiple times.
While I was speaking to Jerry, bouncers were also telling Kevin Centeno to leave. Kevin was yelling and refusing to leave. A bouncer attempted to physically escort Kevin away and then Jerry quickly went over to help Kevin get away. Ofc Miller and I asked Kevin and Jerry to leave and they continued to yell over us.
Ofc Miller put his hand on Kevin’s chest and walked forward to get Kevin further away. Kevin slapped away Ofc Miller’s hand and then yelled at Ofc Miller telling him not to touch him while putting his finger in Ofc Miller’s face. Ofc Miller grabbed Kevin’s hand and attempted to do an arm bar takedown but Jerry was in the way preventing Kevin from going to the ground. Kevin started trying to square up with Ofc Miller and Jerry started to try to break Kevin free.
I grabbed Kevin around the hips from behind and conducted a chair takedown. Kevin continued to resist on the ground. I felt somebody grab onto my body armor from behind. Later I was informed that Jerry tried to pull me off but was quickly stopped by others assisting. I gave Kevin orders to stop but he continued to resist and was placed in handcuffs.
Ofc Miller and I lifted Kevin up and walked him to my patrol vehicle. Kevin was refusing to get into the back of my vehicle and put his foot out against the car to stop us from putting him inside. Ofc Miller and I pushed Kevin into the back of my vehicle.
I transported Kevin to the Glynn County Jail and Ofc Belew 216 transported Jerry at the same time. At the Jail, I conducted a search incident to arrest on Kevin. I located 12.7 grams of marijuana flower in his left pocket. I noticed Kevin had an abrasion on his right elbow and his eyes appeared to be blood shot as if he had trauma. Jerry and Kevin were transported to the hospital for a jail clearance. I notified Srgt Hall 210 that I had a Use of Force. Srgt Hall met me at the hospital.
Jerry had and abrasion on the left side of his head and an abrasion on his left knee. Jerry received a Jail clearance and Ofc Belew transported him back to the Jail.
Kevin complained that his left big toe was hurting. X-rays showed that Kevin’s toe was fractured. He received a prescription and a special sandal to help him walk. Throughout the incident Kevin was wearing closed toed shoes. Ofc Belew conducted a follow up with the bouncers that confirmed that Kevin’s eyes were red before officer’s arrived.
After Kevin received his jail clearance I transported him back to the Glynn County Jail and released him to staff. Marijuana was placed in evidence to be destroyed.
Jerry and Kevin were both charged for disorderly conduct and obstruction.
