On 04/15/2025 at 2245 hours I responded to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to a welfare check on two juveniles that had been left home alone.

As I was in route to the address listed above, I was advised by Gordon County E911 via phone call that the father of the juvenile’s [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was the complainant and he advised that his 8 and 10 year old children had been left home alone without adult supervision since approximately 2115 hours on this date. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised the juveniles mother (Alexandra Woodward) was on her way to a storage building in Duluth, Ga with her boyfriend John McHugh.

Upon my arrival, I met with both juveniles inside of their residence. The juveniles were identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who is 8 years old, and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who is 10 years old.

I asked the juveniles about how long they had been home alone and if they knew where their mother was. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that she had left the house with her boyfriend at around 2115 hours to go to Duluth, GA to get stuff out of a storage unit.

When I entered the house to speak to the juveniles I observed a open alcoholic beverage container on a dining room table and a nicotine vape on a counter. Both of which were easily accessible to both of the children.

I began speaking to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] off of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] cellphone and he advised to me he was on his way to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] pick up the children, and that he was approximately an hour away.

I then spoke to the juvenile’s mother on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] cellphone and she advised she had only been gone for twenty minutes, but when I asked her how far away she was from the children she advised thirty minutes. It took approximately one hour and fifteen minutes for Alexandra to return back to her residence after I got done speaking to her on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] phone.

At approximately 2315 hours I contacted Gordon County on call DFCS via phone call and spoke to case worker, [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] advised it would be best for the children to go with their father as long as he had legal rights to the juveniles, which he did. Ms. [REDACTED] also advised she would be investigating the case further after a police report was made.

I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] how he felt while him and his brother were home by themselves, and he advised he was very nervous because he thought someone might try to break into their house. Ofc. Ayala who was on scene asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] how he felt about the incident, and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised he was used this issue due to his mother leaving them home alone often.

At 2331 hours [REDACTED BY AGENCY] arrived on scene and took custody of both [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Lt. Tanner who was on scene asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if he would ever leave his children home alone, and he advised he would never leave his 10 and 8 year old children home alone by themselves.

Approximately 30 minutes later Alexandra and her boyfriend John McHugh arrived at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]

At 0003 hours both Alexandra and John were arrested for Cruelty to Children.

I read Alexandra her Miranda Rights, and she advised she wished to speak to me. As I was questioning her about the incident, instead of answering my questions she would ask me to move her vehicle.

I then read John his Miranda Rights and he advised he did not wish to speak to me.

At approximately 0010 hours I transported both Alexandra and John to the Gordon County Jail where they were released for booking.

Warrants for Cruelty to Children 1st Degree have been applied for against John and Alexandra.

I’ve also uploaded a picture of the open alcoholic beverage, the nicotine vape, and a picture of the e-mail I received from [REDACTED] to Axon.com.
