On 08/04/2026 at approximately 0018 hours, I was dispatched to Bethel Church on East May Street in response to a domestic violence report. Upon arrival, I made contact with the complainant and victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Due to a language barrier, I requested assistance from Cpl. Oreliana (#39), who provided translation services throughout the investigation.

Through Cpl. Oreliana’s translation, Ms. [REDACTED] reported that on the evening of 08/03/2026, she returned home from work at approximately 2130-2200 hours. Her boyfriend, Diego Nunez, became angry and demanded she get out of bed. When she refused and requested to rest, Mr. Nunez forcefully placed his hand over her mouth, restricting her breathing while she was crying and distressed. Her younger son witnessed the incident and began yelling. Fearing for her safety, Ms. [REDACTED] slept in the living room, believing Mr. Nunez might seriously harm or kill her.

Ms. [REDACTED] further stated that her son attempted to defend her, resulting in Mr. Nunez sustaining a cut on his back from a nail file. Mr. Nunez then threatened her son, stating he would “pay for it” the next day. On the morning of 08/04/2026, Ms. [REDACTED] left her son with a babysitter before going to work and texted Mr. Nunez, instructing him not to pick up the child due to safety concerns. Nevertheless, Mr. Nunez picked up the child.

Ms. [REDACTED] stated that after returning home from work, she stopped to purchase groceries. Upon arrival, Mr. Nunez instructed her to put the groceries away immediately. She explained that she needed to eat first due to hunger and fatigue and sat down on the couch. Mr. Nunez became angry, walked over, sat down on top of her with his full weight, and said, “Why do I have to do everything myself?”

He then struck her forcefully multiple times on both legs, causing red marks and making her cry. When she attempted to leave, Mr. Nunez blocked the doorway, preventing her exit. As she tried to leave, he forced the door shut on her hands and continued pulling on it, resulting in injury. Her son witnessed this incident and recorded it, as the residence is a one-bedroom with a common area, and he is typically playing games on the phone.

Ms. [REDACTED] also reported that Mr. Nunez forcibly snatched her cellular phone, preventing her from calling 911. She was unable to contact law enforcement until friends arrived at the residence. After her son left with the friends, Ms. [REDACTED] remained to speak with Mr. Nunez, who continued to insult her and use derogatory language. When Mr. Nunez became distracted, she fled the residence, entered her vehicle, borrowed a friend’s phone, and contacted 911. She further stated that Mr. Nunez threatened to kill her if she returned to the residence. Ms. [REDACTED] reported that she fears for her life.

Due to the language barrier, Cpl. Oreliana translated the victim’s oral statement. Ms. [REDACTED] also provided a written statement in Spanish, which was collected as evidence.

Upon completion of the investigation, Cpl. Oreliana and I responded to [REDACTED] to locate Mr. Nunez. Upon arrival I observed a Hispanic male exited a Ford F-150; he was identified as Diego Nunez. Based on the investigation – including the victim’s and witness statements, physical evidence, and my observations – Mr. Nunez was placed under arrest. He was secured in handcuffs, which were double-locked and checked for proper fit. Cpl. Oreliana advised Mr. Nunez of his Miranda Rights. Mr. Nunez stated he understood his rights but refused to answer questions.

Mr. Nunez was placed in the right rear seat of my marked patrol vehicle. My in-car camera was activated, and I transported him to the Gordon County Jail without incident. Ms. [REDACTED], the case manager with DFCS, was informed of the incident and indicated that a follow-up investigation would begin promptly.

Warrants will be obtained for the following offenses:

• Aggravated Assault – Family Violence (OCGA § 16-5-21)
• Battery – Family Violence (OCGA § 16-5-23.1)
• False Imprisonment (OCGA § 16-5-41)
• Obstructing or hindering a 911 Call (OCGA § 16-10-24.3)
• Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree (OCGA § 16-5-70(d))
