On February 9, 2023 at 1559 hours, Deputy SAYLORS was on patrol on I-75 southbound near mile marker 321, Resaca, Gordon County, Georgia when Deputy SAYLORS observed a black Nissan Pathfinder pass by without a tag displayed.

Deputy SAYLORS conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on I-75 south near mile marker 318. The vehicle finally came to a stop in the back parking lot of the BP gas station located at 1441 Us Hwy 41 North. Deputy SAYLORS made contact with the driver identified as CHELSEY NICOLE SHAW. Deputy SAYLORS noticed the front seat passenger and immediately recognized her face from previous encounters with the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy SAYLORS asked the passenger her name, and she advised JESSICA SHAW.

Deputy SAYLORS obtained CHELSEY’s driver license and title for the vehicle. Deputy SAYLORS returned to his vehicle and ran the information through 911. Deputy SAYLORS also had 911 check for outstanding warrants for JESSICA SHAW. A short time later, Deputy SAYLORS was advised that JESSICA SHAW had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on theft charges. Deputy SAYLORS had JESSICA step out where she was detained in handcuffs until confirmation on the warrant. While waiting for confirmation, 911 advised that the driver CHELSEY and the vehicle was valid, at which time CHELSEY was advised that she was free to leave and was released from the scene.

Once the warrant was confirmed, Deputy SAYLORS transported JESSICA to the Gordon County Jail where she was turned over to jail staff. While being searched in by Sergeant BRAY in booking, Deputy SAYLORS observed JESSICA pull a cigarette pack out of her bra. JESSICA then handed over a bag of green leafy substance to Sgt. BRAY, JESSICA then suddenly placed a bag of suspected Methamphetamine inside her mouth and attempted to swallow the bag. Jail staff was able to stop JESSICA from swallowing the bag of Meth. Jail staff recovered a bag of marijuana, a bag of Methamphetamine and a clear bag with crystal residue from JESSICA’s person.

Deputy SAYLORS is charging JESSICA with possession of Meth, crossing the guard line with drugs, tampering with evidence, and possession of marijuana less than one ounce. Audio and video was recorded on Deputy SAYLORS in car camera. Photographs of the evidence have been preserved in the Sheriff’s Office Data Base.
