On Thursday April 30, 2026 I, Deputy Velasquez with the Grady County Sheriff Office responded to the address of [300 BLOCK] Joyner Rd Lot [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic that did not involve weapons.
I made contact with Ms. [WITNESS #1]. She informed me that she could hear her niece, Ms. [VICTIM #1], screaming for help. She went to go see what was going, she got near and could see Mr. Nicholas Jones, grabbing Ms. [VICTIM #1] by the throat and dragging her back into the residence.
I made contact with Mr. Nicholas Jones. While attempting to talk to Mr. Jones, he admitted to being intoxicated and was not in the right state of mind to be able to make clear sentences and informed me what incident had occured. Mr. Jones was detained.
I made contact with Ms. [VICTIM #1]. While speaking to Ms. [VICTIM #1], She informed that she made it home from work and noticed Mr. Jones had been drinking. While they were having a conversation in the kitchen area, Mr. Jones began yelling towards her and throwing objects around causing a mess. Ms. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Jones to go to bed and attempted to de escalate the situation, while Ms. [VICTIM #1] was walking towards their bed room when Mr. Jones snatched her by her hair in an aggressive manner. They started wrestling and Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was trying to get away from him and Mr. Jones would not let her.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. Jones started to strangle her, by grabbing her from behind and started choking her with his arms. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she felt like she was losing consciousness and started seeing dots by how hard he choking her. They both fell on the ground in between the couches in the living room and Mr. Jones continued pressing down on the back her neck causing her to struggle to breath. She kept telling Mr. Jones that she was not able to breath and he stated that she was lying and was breathing.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] was able to get off the ground and ran towards the door to shout for help. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was able to shout for help, and noticed that her Auntie, Ms. [WITNESS #1], saw her and came to see what was happening. Mr. Jones then grabbed her again by the throat and was attempting to drag her back into the residence. Ms. [WITNESS #1] arrived on scene with her husband to de escalate the situation and E911 was called about the incident. While Ms. [VICTIM #1] was attempting to get away from Mr. Jones, she left defensive marks on Mr. Jones by scratching him in the neck area and his right side of his face.
Furthering the investigation, Mr. Jones was arrested and placed in the right rear seat of my patrol vehicle and transported to Grady County Detention Center for booking procedures. Ms. [WITNESS #1] also filled out a witness statement to the incident.
On-Call Investigator Lt. Murphy was notified about the incident.
