On September 14, 2026, at 2024 hours, I S/TPR B. Galloway #690 arrived on scene at a wreck. The wreck was located on Oakey MTN Road north of Low Gap Connector in Habersham County. A deputy with Habersham County Sheriff’s Office advised the driver fled on foot. Deputies were tracking the driver on foot with a K-9. Witnesses stated they smelled alcohol on the driver prior to him leaving the scene. One witness stated he told the driver not to leave the scene because the law will still arrest you but the suspect fled on foot.
On September 15, 2026, I was able to make contact with the driver and identified him as Layne Benton Bragg with a date of birth [REDACTED]. Mr. Bragg advised he left the scene to go get his truck. I told Mr. Bragg he was under arrest and that he needed to turn himself into the Habersham County Detention Center at his earliest convenience. On September 16, 2026 Mr. Bragg turned himself into the Habersham County Detention Center.
