Thai Noodles and Sushi in Albany receives a 65% on their recent health inspection

Thai Noodles and Sushi, located at 1111 Dawson Road in Albany, received a score of 65 points out of a possible 100 points during their 03/18/2024 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by the inspector were:

4-2A – food stored covered

Inspector Notes: Observed several food items such as egg rolls, dumplings, wontons, and spring rolls in cold holding uncovered. CA: Except as specified under paragraph 2. of this subsection and when cooling as specified in DPH Rule 511-6-1-.04(6)(e)2.(ii), storing the food in packages, covered containers, or wrappings, except for loosely covered or uncovered containers in which food is being cooled if protected from overhead contamination. PIC provided lids for the containers.

Inspector Notes: Observed establishment using time as a public health control without having a written procedure. CA: Except as specified under paragraph 4 of this subsection, if time without temperature control is used as the public health control for a working supply of time/temperature control for safety food before cooking, or for ready-to-eat time/temperature control for safety food that is displayed or held for sale or service, written procedures shall be prepared in advance, maintained in the food service establishment, and made available to the regulatory authority upon request that specify Methods of compliance with paragraphs 2(i) – (iii) or 3(i) through (v) of this subsection; and methods of compliance with the cooling of time/temperature control for safety food that is prepared, cooked, and refrigerated before time is used as a public health control. PIC will provide EH with a written procedure for time being used a public health control.

Inspector Notes: Observed several containers of food items being stored in WIC not date marked. CA: Except as specified in paragraphs 4 through 6 of this subsection, refrigerated, ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared and packaged by a food processing plant shall be clearly marked, at the time the original container is opened in a food service establishment and if the food is held for more than 24 hours, to indicate the date or day by which the food shall be consumed on the premises, sold, or discarded, when held at a temperature of 41°F (5°C) or below for a maximum of 7 days after the original container is opened. The day the original container is opened in the food service establishment shall be counted as Day 1, except, the day or date marked by the food service establishment may not exceed a manufacturer’s use by date if the manufacturer determined the use-by date based on food safety. Discussed date marking and PIC provided the containers with dates.

Inspector Notes: Observed several food items such as flour, chicken powder, and salt in storage containers in the facility without a common food name label. CA: Food packaged in a food service establishment, shall be labeled as specified in law, including 21 CFR 101- Food labeling, and 9 CFR 317 Labeling, marking devices, and containers. Label information shall include the common name of the food, or if there is no common name, an adequately descriptive identity statement. PIC provided the containers with a common food name label.

Inspector Notes: Observed two containers of meat such as chicken and steak being stored on the floor in the main kitchen area. CA: Except as specified in paragraphs 2 and 3 of this subsection, food shall be protected from contamination by storing the food in a clean, dry location; where it is not exposed to splash, dust, or other contamination; and at least 6 inches (15 cm) above the floor. PIC removed the containers from the floor and placed the meat in a clean container.

Inspector Notes: Observed wiping cloths not being stored in a sanitizer solution with the proper chemical concentration. CA: Cloths in-use for wiping counters and other equipment surfaces shall be held between uses in a chemical sanitizer solution at a concentration specified under DPH Rule 511-6-1-.05(6)(n); and laundered daily. PIC made another bucket of sanitizer with the proper concentration.

Inspector Notes: Observed bowls being used as scoops in several food containers such as chicken powder, sushi rice, and flour. CA: During pauses in food preparation or dispensing, food preparation and dispensing utensils shall be stored except as specified under paragraph 2 of this subsection, in the food with their handles above the top of the food and the container. PIC provided each container with a scoop that has a designated handle.

Inspector Notes: Observed cardboard being used as lids for food containers. CA: Utensils and food-contact surfaces of equipment shall be made of materials that do not allow the migration of deleterious substances or impart colors, odors, or tastes to food and under normal use conditions, and shall be: P safe P, durable, corrosion-resistant, and nonabsorbent. In addition, materials shall be sufficient in weight and thickness to withstand repeated warewashing and shall be finished to have a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Materials shall be resistant to pitting, chipping, crazing, scratching, scoring, distortion and decomposition. PIC wrapped the containers with aluminum foil.

Inspector Notes: Observed the dumpster side doors open. CA: Receptacles and waste handling units for refuse, recyclables, and returnables shall be kept covered with tight-fitting lids or doors if kept outside the food service establishment. PIC will have the dumpster side doors closed.

Inspector Notes: Observed employee medicine being stored on top of prep table in the main kitchen area. CA: Lockers or other suitable facilities shall be located in a designated room or area where contamination of food, equipment, utensils, linens and single-service and single-use articles cannot occur. PIC will provide an area for employees to store personal items.

Inspector Notes: Observed back door of facility being propped open. CA: Except as specified in paragraphs 2 through 5 of this subsection, outer openings of a food service establishment shall be protected against the entry of insects and rodents by solid, self-closing, tight-fitting doors. PIC closed the back door.
