On August 9, 2026, at approximately 0815 hours, I was conducting traffic enforcement on Bill Gardner Parkway near Frances Ward Drive in Locust Grove, Georgia, when I observed a black 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer bearing Georgia registration [REDACTED] traveling westbound on Bill Gardner Parkway. I observed the driver operating the vehicle without wearing a safety belt.
I initiated a traffic stop on Bill Gardner Parkway in the parking lot of Quick Trip. Upon approaching the vehicle, I knocked on the driver’s window and instructed the driver to roll the window down. The driver, later identified as Brittany White (Georgia OLN [REDACTED BY AGENCY]) asked why she needed to roll the window down and questioned whether she had to do so. I repeated my instruction for White to roll the window down. White refused and stated, “No.”
Due to White’s continued refusal to comply, I requested an additional patrol unit. I then opened the driver’s door and observed White using her cellular phone, appearing to call someone. I ordered White to exit the vehicle. White refused and became loud, yelling for help and stating that she had not done anything.
At that time, I removed my handcuffs from their holder and placed one handcuff on White’s left wrist. As I attempted to place the second handcuff on White and remove her from the vehicle, White physically resisted by hooking her right arm around the steering wheel. White continued yelling for assistance from nearby bystanders.
Sergeant Davenport of the Georgia State Patrol was in the parking lot and responded to assist. Sergeant Davenport and I continued giving White numerous verbal commands to exit the vehicle. Each of us maintained control of one of White’s arms; however, White continued to physically resist our efforts to remove her from the vehicle.
Sergeant McDowell of the Locust Grove Police Department subsequently arrived on scene. Sergeant McDowell and Sergeant Davenport were able to remove White from the vehicle. White continued to resist and yell while officers placed her on the ground in a seated position. Officers attempted to calm White and explained that supervisors were present on scene. White was eventually secured and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle.
During an incident-to-arrest search of the vehicle, suspected marijuana was located on the front passenger seat. The suspected marijuana consisted of a marijuana cigarette and loose marijuana buds contained in a jar. I also located a Glock 22 handgun, bearing serial number BNC4290, inside a purse located on the front passenger seat. I provided the firearm’s serial number to dispatch, and dispatch confirmed the firearm was not reported stolen. The driver was identified as Brittany White. After initially refusing to provide identifying information, White eventually confirmed her identity.
White was issued three citations: one citation for the safety-belt violation, one citation for possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and one City of Locust Grove ordinance citation for obstruction, subsection T. All three citations listed a court date of October 27, 2026, at 0900 hours in Locust Grove City Court. White was advised that failure to appear in court could result in the issuance of an arrest warrant and suspension of her driver’s license.
White was transported to the Henry County Jail for further processing.
The black 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was released, with White’s permission, to her son, [REDACTED] (Georgia OLN [REDACTED BY AGENCY])
