On August 17, 2026, at 4:21 pm, while patrolling Bill Gardner Parkway, I observed a black Honda Accord with no license plate.
The Honda turned off of Bill Gardner Parkway onto the 1-75 northbound entrance ramp 212. Directly behind the Honda was a black Audi with GA tag number [REDACTED]. I activated my lights and sirens behind the Audi because there was not enough room between them and the Honda for me to conduct a traffic stop.
The Audi refused to pull over/merge over; I used the middle lane with my lights and sirens still activated, hoping the Audi would merge over to allow me to get behind the Honda. The Audi still refused to move over. There was a small gap between the vehicles , and I was able to get behind the Honda.
The Audi then utilized the middle lane and pulled back in front of my patrol vehicle, preventing me from conducting a traffic stop on the Honda. At that time, both vehicles pulled to the right shoulder on 1-75 northbound mile marker 213.
I made contact with the driver of the Audi, who identified herself as Melissa Tirado via driver’s license. I informed Melissa that I was trying to conduct a traffic stop on the Honda, and she was preventing me from doing so. I asked Melissa what possessed her to maneuver around me to get back in front of me after I activated my lights and sirens, and she stated, “Because that’s my son.”
I placed Melissa under arrest, and I charged her with disorderly conduct, obstruction, and hindering my traffic stop. I placed handcuffs to the rear, checked for proper fit, and I double-locked them. I placed Melissa in the back of patrol unit two, and I secured her seatbelt.
I made contact with the driver of the Honda, who identified himself as Rohmell Richardson via driver’s license. I advised Richardson of the reason for the traffic stop and asked him for vehicle paperwork and proof of insurance.
Richardson stated that he did not have insurance and was trying to drive the vehicle to pass emissions and get a tag. I entered the Honda’s VIN through GCIC/NCIC, and it returned that the vehicle had no active insurance. I ran the Audi through GCIC/NCIC, and it returned that the registration was suspended.
I cited Richardson for no insurance, and I gave him a warning for not having a tag. Corner Lot Towing towed his vehicle due to no active insurance. I issued a warning to Melissa for driving while the registration was suspended.
Per Melissa’s request, she released her vehicle to Richardson. Melissa and Richardson’s court date is on 10-27-2026 at 9 AM.
I transported Melissa to the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, where she was released to jail staff without incident. I completed an inventory sheet and emailed it to Corner Lot Towing.
