[NARRATIVE #1 on August 23, 2026]

On August 23rd 2026, at approximately 10:46 pm, I, Officer Eutsey, responded to [900 BLOCK] Avenue St, which is in the city limits of McDonough (Henry County), GA, in reference to a domestic call.

Upon arrival, I spoke to Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. She stated that she got into a verbal dispute with her husband, Mr Michael Canty. The verbal dispute escalated while the couple was in their bedroom. Mr. Canty was intoxicated during the dispute. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated that her husband punched her in the face and held his black Glock 48 to her head and stated that he was going to kill her. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] got away from her husband and walked to the bedroom door, and then Mr. Canty fired a single shot in the headrest of a recliner chair.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1]’s son. [WITNESS #1] stated that he dropped his mom off, and his father locked the front door, and he had to assist his mom in opening it. He then stated he was outside while his parents were in their bedroom; he heard a single gunshot, and he ran inside and separated his parents. A single 9mm shell casing was recovered from the recliner chair.

Mr. Canty stated that he and his wife were in a verbal dispute, and he pulled out his Glock 48 because his wife was mad at him for bringing his other child to a family function. Mr. Canty was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle. Mr. Canty was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, family violence, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and terroristic threats. He was transported to Henry County Jail and released to the jail staff without incident. Mr. Canty’s black Glock 48, a 10-round magazine, and 8 9mm rounds, and a 9mm casing were submitted into evidence.

[NARRATIVE #2 on August 23, 2026]

On August 23, 2026, at approximately 2246 hours, I, Officer Prescott with the City of McDonough Police Department, responded to [900 BLOCK] Avenue Street, located within the city limits of McDonough, Henry County, Georgia, in reference to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, I made contact with Officer Eutsey, who had already assumed control of the scene. Officer Eutsey and I entered the residence with our firearms drawn and made contact with the subject, identified as Michael Canty. Canty was placed under arrest, handcuffed with his hands behind his back, and the handcuffs were checked for proper fit and double-locked. Canty was then secured in the rear of Officer Eutsey’s patrol vehicle.

I re-entered the residence and entered the bedroom where the incident occurred. I photographed a bullet hole that traveled through a La-Z-Boy chair, through the chair and into a nightstand, before continuing into the bedroom floor. The photographs were taken using my department-issued body-worn camera. I then located a spent shell casing within the cushion of the same La-Z-Boy chair. I photographed the location where the shell casing was found. I subsequently exited the residence and obtained written statements from the victim and witness who were on scene.

This incident was closed by arrest by Officer Eutsey.
