On April 28th, 2026 at approximately 1:21pm, I responded to a disturbance call at Ingles, 4920 Bill Gardner Pkwy.
Upon arrival, I observed a male subject standing near the store entrance with a bag later identified as, Nathan Friedlander.
I made contact with store employees who provided information about the incident. One employee, [VICTIM #1] provided the following account: the subject had been screaming and cussing inside the store. A customer alerted the employee to the subject’s behavior near the M&Ms shelf, where the subject was handling pepperoni bags. When the employee approached and asked if Friedlander was okay, the subject initially responded affirmatively but then suddenly changed demeanor and began yelling.
The subject called the employee a “Jiga Boo Lover” while walking up the aisle making customer uncomfortable and scared. Friedlander then exited the store, went to the shopping cart area with his bag, and attempted to re-enter the store. Employees locked the doors to prevent the subject from coming back inside.
I spoke with the Assistant Manager, [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] advised she was approached by female customer about Friedlander’s behavior and asked if she could call 911. [WITNESS #1] stated she witnessed Friedlander acting aggressive towards [VICTIM #1] as he was exiting the store. [WITNESS #1] advised it was then when she closed the door and locked it for their safety. Friedlander continued to be irate and began to yell and cuss at the employees while outside of the location. [WITNESS #1] stated she did not know if Friedlander possibly had a weapon or not but that he kept reaching in his wasteband.
I approached Friedlander and informed him he was being arrested for disorderly conduct. I placed the subject in handcuffs and advised him to turn around and not tense up. The handcuffs were double locked, checked for proper fit. The subject made multiple statements during the detention, including references to God, accusations that I was disrespecting his Lord, and statements that I would go to hell. Friedlander called himself my boss and made threats about telling on me. He referred to himself using a racial slur and continued making hostile statements.
I placed the Friedlander in my patrol vehicle. I requested Sgt. Jones to obtain identification information from the employee in the black shirt and black hat. Sgt. Jones was also able to get written statements from the parties involved. The witness statement forms were later obtained and uploaded through AXON for evidence.
Friedlander was later transported to the Henry County Jail without incident and was charged with Disorderly Conduct Subsection B.
