On June 21, 2026, I was leaving the QuikTrip located at 4829 Bill Gardner Parkway when I observed a male and female standing near the gas pumps engaged in a verbal altercation. Due to the apparent disturbance between the parties, I continued to monitor the situation and made contact as the incident escalated.

I notified dispatch that I was out on a domestic dispute. As I approached the vehicle, I observed a female later identified as [VICTIM #1] backing away from the vehicle in clear distress while repeatedly stating, “Stop, I cannot do this anymore.” I then observed a male, later identified as Rudmar Lopez, exit the passenger side of the vehicle with blood visible on his face and shorts. I immediately detained Lopez while the incident was investigated.

After securing Lopez in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle, I spoke with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that Lopez had stabbed her. [VICTIM #1] advised that a knife had been used during the incident but stated she did not know where the knife was located. I observed a bloody wound on [VICTIM #1]’s finger. I also observed blood on an unworn shirt and on the center console/radio area of the vehicle.

[VICTIM #1] stated that the incident began the previous day after she and Lopez left a pool party. [VICTIM #1] stated she had been involved with another male and that Lopez eventually learned about the incident. [VICTIM #1] stated she and Lopez had been arguing about the matter for some time. [VICTIM #1] further stated they had recently been stopped by officers in Henry County during a welfare check after Lopez threw her cell phone out of the vehicle window and both parties searched for it. [VICTIM #1] stated the officers eventually released them. Due to not knowing their location without GPS, they ultimately ended up in Locust Grove.

[VICTIM #1] stated the argument escalated while they were traveling through Locust Grove. [VICTIM #1] advised she observed a marked patrol vehicle at the QuikTrip and wanted to stop and seek assistance. [VICTIM #1] stated Lopez grabbed a knife and threatened her by saying, “I’ll end your a*s right now.” [VICTIM #1] stated that as she approached my patrol vehicle, she grabbed the knife in an attempt to gain control of it. [VICTIM #1] stated Lopez then forcefully pulled the knife back, causing a laceration to her finger.

I advised Lopez of his Miranda rights and questioned him about the incident. Lopez stated [VICTIM #1] had recently cheated on him and claimed that most of the injuries on his body were the result of a previous altercation with his brother. Lopez stated the injury to his eye was caused by [VICTIM #1]. Lopez initially stated that the knife had been picked up at a pool party attended by the couple. Lopez later changed his account and stated he was unaware of the knife until [VICTIM #1] produced it after he confronted her about cheating. Lopez stated he took the knife from [VICTIM #1] and that she attempted to grab it back, resulting in her finger being cut.

Lopez also admitted that he had concealed the knife underneath the passenger seat where he had been sitting. Officers later located the knife in that location. Based on the statements provided, physical evidence observed, and the totality of the investigation, Lopez was charged with Aggravated Assault – Family Violence, as he and [VICTIM #1] resided together. The knife was collected and placed into temporary evidence storage.
