On August 4, 2026, at approximately 0729 hours, I worked for the Houston County Sheriff’s Office (Patrol Division) when I was dispatched to Highway 247 for a hit-and-run.

Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated he was traveling southbound on Highway 247 when his silver 2008 Buick Lacrosse Tag #[REDACTED] was rear-ended by a black 2014 Dodge Journey Tag #[REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] said after exiting his vehicle, the driver, later identified as Jalen Bishop, exited the Dodge Journey and asked him what he wanted to do. [VICTIM #1] stated he told Jalen that he wanted to call for emergency services. [VICTIM #1] told me Jalen punched him with a closed fist to the left side of his face before getting back inside the Journey.

[VICTIM #1] said he tried to keep Jalen from leaving the scene, and in doing so, broke the driver’s side window of the Journey. [VICTIM #1] stated he called for emergency services after Jalen left the scene heading southbound on Highway 247 towards Watson Boulevard.

I observed heavy rear-end damage to the Lacrosse. [VICTIM #1] declined to have the vehicle towed. [VICTIM #1] stated he wanted to press charges against Jalen for striking him in the face.

Pictures of the damaged Lacrosse were taken.

At approximately 0833 hours, I was advised by dispatch that [WITNESS #1] wanted to speak with me in regard to the hit-and-run. [WITNESS #1] told me she works for the Fort Valley Police Department. [WITNESS #1] stated her brother, Jalen, was operating a black 2014 Dodge Journey. [WITNESS #1] advised me Jalen called her and told her that he was in an accident and left the scene. [WITNESS #1] said Jalen told her he was scared and did not know what to do. I advised [WITNESS #1] that I needed to speak with Jalen in reference to the hit-and-run. I advised [WITNESS #1] that they could meet me at the Houston County Sheriffs Office at 202 Carl Vinson Parkway.

Warrants were taken against Jalen for hit-and-run, failure to report an accident, and simple battery.

At 1126 hours, I was advised that Jalen and [WITNESS #1] were at the Houston County Sheriffs Office.

With signed warrants in hand, I made contact with Jalen and [WITNESS #1]. I placed Jalen in handcuffs, checked for proper fit, and double locked. I advised Jalen of his charges and escorted him to my patrol unit #820. After placing Jalen in the back of my unit, I read him his Miranda warning. Jalen stated he would speak with me without an attorney present.

Jalen told me he had just gotten off work after working a 12-hour shift and had to drive an hour commute back home. Jalen said he believes the accident happened because he fell asleep behind the wheel. Jalen stated that after the accident, he tried to speak with [VICTIM #1], but they started arguing instead. Jalen said before the argument became violent, he went and got back into his vehicle. Jalen said [VICTIM #1] then busted out his drivers side window. Jalen stated he punched [VICTIM #1] with a closed-handed fist and left the scene afterward. Jalen said he called his sister [WITNESS #1] after the accident and told her what happened instead of calling for emergency services.

Pictures of the damaged Journey were taken, and then the vehicle was released to [WITNESS #1].

I transported Jalen to the Houston County Sheriffs Office Detention Center for booking and processing. Jalen was turned over to the detention staff.
