On Thursday, August 21st, 2025, at approximately 2203 hours, I Dep. Wheeler, and Dep. Stephens were dispatched to [2000 BLOCK] Hwy 127 S in reference to a report of cruelty to children.

Dep. Stephens, Dep. Windham and I arrived on scene and were let into the front of the residence by the suspect’s girlfriend, [WITNESS #1] (W/F DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/2004).

Upon entry into the residence Dep. Stephens and I announced ourselves and instructed the suspect, Preston Warren (W//M DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/2005), to come out. Preston exited the back bedroom and came towards us in the kitchen. A female victim, identified as [VICTIM #1] (W/F DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1976), ran out of the room and appeared to be distressed. [VICTIM #1] was followed by another victim, [VICTIM #2] (W/M DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1988), who was complaining of his knee and pinky hurting from an altercation with Preston. [VICTIM #1] said she just wanted out of the house as she had been trapped in the room.

I instructed Preston to place his hands on his head, which he refused to do. I then grabbed Preston’s left arm in an attempt to place handcuffs on him when he began to struggle. After a brief resistance, my left middle finger was scratched by Preston’s fingernail, causing it to bleed. Dep. Stephens helped me to gain control, and Preston was placed in handcuffs (checked-for-fit and double locked). Preston was read his Miranda warning and agreed to talk. Preston denied doing any harm to the child, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (W/M DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/2025). Preston stated that he was taking care of [REDACTED BY AGENCY], and he was becoming fussy and crying, so he went to make him a bottle. Preston said that when he returned to the room, [WITNESS #1] had gotten out of the shower and began to question him about what happened to [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s face. Preston said that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had scratched his face with his fingernail and thought he had rolled in his bassinet and bruised his face.

While Dep. Stephens and I were interviewing Preston, Dep Windham spoke with the baby’s mother, [WITNESS #1], who was holding [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Dep. Windham confirmed that the baby had bruising and scratches to his face. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was transported to Navicent for evaluation and Dep. Windham followed to complete his interview with [WITNESS #1] and will be completing a supplement to the report.

Preston was searched incident to arrest and placed in the back of patrol car 848. Dep. Stephens and I went back to the residence to interview both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2]. [VICTIM #1] stated that she and [VICTIM #2] were in their bedroom when she received a text from [WITNESS #1] saying that she had just gotten out of the shower and found a scratch and some bruising on [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [WITNESS #1] told [VICTIM #1] that Preston didn’t want [VICTIM #1] to come back and look and the injuries. [VICTIM #1] said she immediately went to their bedroom and observed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had a swollen upper lip and a deep scratch to his cheek.

[VICTIM #1] said she began to question Preston as to what happened, and he began to cry. He said he was worried that everyone was going to think that he was responsible for the injuries to his son. [VICTIM #1] said that Preston began to get irritated and wanted her to leave the room, and then Preston and [WITNESS #1] began to argue about taking [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to the hospital.

[VICTIM #1] then came into their room and agreed with [WITNESS #1] that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] needed to go to the hospital, and Preston then became enraged. [VICTIM #1] said Preston pushed her out and up against the wall in the hallway and began yelling obscenities at her.

[VICTIM #2] heard the commotion and came to see what was going on. Preston then initiated a physical altercation with [VICTIM #2] and began pushing him, and they eventually ended up in a scuffle on the ground. [VICTIM #1] said afterwards, Preston pulled a kitchen chair out and told her to sit, and then pushed her onto it, causing her to fall to the ground.

Preston then followed [VICTIM #2] to his bedroom and began shoving and cursing at him. [VICTIM #1] said she followed them, then Preston shut the door behind them and told them to sit, and that they could not leave the room. [VICTIM #1] said she was leaning up against the footboard, and Preston shoved her onto the bed and told her to stay there.

During this altercation, Preston took both of their phones and would not allow them to call 911. Several attempts were made to call 911 from the residence, as confirmed by dispatch, but they were disconnected as they were struggling to keep their phones. Preston finally opened the door and allowed them to leave when he heard us announce as we entered the residence.

When Dep. Stephens and I returned to the patrol car and Preston had slipped his cuffs to the front and had managed to roll down the window. Sgt. Frizzell and Dep. Stephens then removed Preston from the car and advised him that he had to be handcuffed in the rear and not slip them to the front again. While they were swapping Preston’s handcuffs, he began to struggle, and I ran around the patrol car to assist in regaining control.

Preston was then handcuffed behind his back, checked for fit, and double locked and told to get back into the patrol car. Preston refused to get into the patrol and had to be forced back in by Dep. Stephens and Sgt. Frizzell. Sgt. Frizzell went to the driver’s side of the patrol car, and pulled Preston into the car by the handcuffs, while Dep. Stephens pushed Preston into the car.

Sgt Harper from juvenile arrived on scene and began his investigation. He advised transporting Preston to Juvenile for him to be interview. While en route to Juvenile, Preston began to make himself hyperventilate. Due to his actions, the decision was made to transport Preston to the Houston County Detention Center for processing.

When we arrived at the Detention Center, Preston was immediately placed into a cell, due to him refusing to follow commands. Preston was turned over to the Detention Center Deputies.
