On 7/26/24, I was dispatched to [300 BLOCK] Mountain Springs Church Road for a possible domestic violence call at 1505 hours.

I arrived in the area around 1517 hours. I searched the area meticulously for a mailbox or drive way for [300 BLOCK] Mountain Springs Church Road but was unsuccessful. Jones County Dispatch was able to guide me to a driveway. It was marked however the sign had fallen done long before. The driveway was overgrown and locked by a gate and padlock. It did not appear to have any recent tire marks. Deputy Morris arrived onscene, we parked our vehicles and attempted to walk down the overgrown driveway but only made it about one hundred yards before we had to turn back because of dense foliage. We regrouped at our vehicles and discussed a plan to attempt to locate the residence. Lt. Ransom then called me and advised that I needed to go to Spring Drive. He told me that I should find an unmarked driveway there that would take me the back way to the residence. Deputy Morris and I arrived on scene around 1656 hours.

I saw the caller, who was later identified as [VICTIM #1] sitting on the porch. As soon as I walked onto the porch, I could see multiple fresh and visible bruises on her forehead, arms, and legs. [VICTIM #1] stated that her boyfriend, who was identified as Benjamin Martin, had been physically abusing her for the last two days. [VICTIM #1] stated that on 7/25/24 he threw a plastic lawn chair at her head, which resulted in a large welt on her left temple. Martin also whipped her back with crown molding on 7/25/24. [VICTIM #1] went on to say that on 7/26/24 Martin poured scolding hot coffee onto her and the choked her with his hands until she lost consciousness. Deputy Morris went inside the residence to take pictures of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries as she needed to remove clothing. [VICTIM #1] stated that Martin left the residence in her car roughly half an hour prior to her calling the Sheriff’s Office.

I advised [VICTIM #1] that it was not safe for her to stay at [300 BLOCK] Mountain Springs Church Road until Martin was in law enforcement custody. She requested that I give her a ride to her grandmother’s house at [2900 BLOCK] S Estates Road in Macon. I drove her to said address where she was released to family and provided with a case card and the phone number for the Crisis Line and Safe House of Central Georgia. [VICTIM #1] refused medical treatment against my advise. Martin is currently outstanding.
