On 7-31-2026, I, Deputy Shurley along with Deputy Steib, responded to [3500 BLOCK] Joycliff Rd. Lot [REDACTED] (Bakers Acres MHP) in reference to a possible Damage to Property / Disorderly Person. It was reported by a Kandi Morgan via 911 to dispatchers that her 61 year old father, [WITNESS #1] had woken up from sleeping and now was throwing things and destroying the home.

Deputy Steib arrived on scene first and made contact with Kandi outside in the yard. After further investigation on his part it was revealed that there was no disturbance at the home at all and that she made the incident up to get us to respond to her home so she could talk about her friend, [REDACTED] missing. I arrived shortly after.

We addressed the issue with the Misuse of 911 to False Report and she stated she only did it because if she would have called about anything else we would not have come to her home. We quickly informed her that was false and that respond to all calls for service needing assistance from law enforcement. Deputy Steib does go inside the home to verify all was ok. He reported back that the house was in order, clean, no damage like she reported and that her father, [WITNESS #1] was in the bed sleeping.

She goes on to explain that a few days ago the “[REDACTED]” spoke to her and told her where to find her a missing female up the road and stated that she made a report with Sgt. Hunt. (2607-09929). I read this report and she indeed did meet with Hunt and a check of the area was conducted and nothing was found. Hunt stated this was turned over to investigations which I informed her of that.

She then states that the “[REDACTED]” spoke to her again today about her missing sister, [REDACTED] and that she was located next door and wanted us to go check these peoples home while [REDACTED] was still alive and we had the power to do that. I informed her that we need more than just her saying the “[REDACTED]” spoke to her for us to go making contact with someone especially at this hour. She stated several times that she last seen [REDACTED] 3 days ago when she was at the home and left to go on a date. She has not been able to reach her.

I walked next door and fake knocked on the door in hopes this would satisfy her but it did not and she still claimed that she was inside that home.

Kandi was asked if she was on any drugs which she stated “No”. We asked her if she was on any medications or suffered from any mental illnesses and she stated “No”.

I requested for Atrium Health EMS to respond for a Mental Evaluation and prior to their arrival she agreed to go to the hospital but once they arrived on scene she refused and would not cooperate with Medical Personnel.

She was given the ultimatum to either go to the hospital for treatment or go to jail for Misuse of 911. It was decided that she would be charged for Misuse of 911 due to her calling in a false crime at the home.

She was handcuffed, double locked and placed into the rear seat of Deputy Steib’s patrol vehicle where she was transported to the Jones County Jail.

I made contact with her father, Mr. [WITNESS #1] who was in his room asleep to inform him of the situation. He stated that he has noticed a change in her mental state over the past month and he agreed that [REDACTED] has not been heard from but he disagreed that she was next door at the neighbors house. I asked how many sisters she had because she stated this would be the 2nd sister that the “[REDACTED]” has led her to find. [WITNESS #1] stated she only has one sister and neither of the two names mentioned by Kandi where her.

He was informed that she will be charged at the jail and she can call him upon release. Her things were left inside the home with him.
