On July 4, 2026, I, Deputy Dalton Whitcomb, was dispatched to [800 BLOCK] Alvin Johnson Rd in reference to an assault. I arrived on scene, activated my body camera, and made contact with the caller.

The caller, identified as Auther Hewitt, stated that he and his brother, James Hewitt, had gotten into an altercation. He stated that James was provoking him by calling him names and bowing up at him. He stated that after being pushed, he pushed James back, and then James struck him in the mouth. I observed fresh blood on Auther’s lip.

I then made contact with James inside the residence. James stated that he and Auther had gotten into an altercation after a verbal argument on the front porch. He stated that he attempted to go to his bedroom after the argument. Auther followed him inside the house and began pushing him, prompting him to defend himself.

While on scene, I spoke with [WITNESS #1], Hewitt’s stepfather, who advised that he did not observe the altercation; however, he stated that he heard Auther at James’s door beating on it and yelling at him.

While on scene talking to both parties involved, Auther stated that James would not come outside to continue the altercation, calling him multiple different profanities in an attempt to provoke James. The decision was made to arrest both parties for Disorderly Conduct.

I handcuffed James behind his back, double locked, and placed him into my patrol vehicle. Auther was handcuffed by Deputy Peoples, and both parties were transported to the LEC, where they were issued citations for Disorderly Conduct and turned over to jail staff.
