[NARRATIVE #1 on June 26, 2026]

On 6/26/2026 at approximately 04:29 PM, I Deputy Tapley was dispatched to [1700 BLOCK] Minter Tweed Road in reference to an aggravated assault.

While en route to the residence, deputies were advised that the weapon used in the alleged assault was a “high powered rifle.” Deputies arrived on scene and were approached by the victim, [VICTIM #1]. Deputies then attempted to speak with the alleged offender, Henry Smith. Smith told deputies to leave the residence and attempted to shut the door.

Deputies then pursued Smith due to having knowledge of a firearm inside the residence. Smith backpedaled, stated “alright” and turned towards his loaded black powder 50 cal rifle. I drew my county issued TASER 7, and fired twice at Smith due to my first shot not inducing neuromuscular incapacitation. Cpl. Zuckerman fired one shot from his TASER 7 at approximately the same time.

Smith was placed into hand restraints by deputies with no further incident. EMS and fire were dispatched to the scene to check Smith for injuries.

Cpl. Merritt spoke with [VICTIM #1] about the incident. [VICTIM #1] stated her and Smith got into a verbal argument and Smith pulled his gun, pointed it at her and told her to leave the residence.

Smith was transported to the Laurens County Jail and turned over to jail staff. I will seek Warrants for Aggravated Assault and obstruction.
