On 05/29/2026 at 0501 hours, I was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to a fire. While enroute, Dispatch advised me they were informed of an earlier incident regarding someone threatening another subject with a knife, the offender was not on scene.
Upon my arrival, I spoke with Mr. [WITNESS #1]. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated there was an argument that occurred between two men, Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. Billy Jones. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated the argument was about Mr. Jones burning Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s sister’s stuff. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated the argument escalated to the point where Mr. Jones attacked Mr. [VICTIM #1] with a knife.
Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he was attempting to get Mr. Jones to leave and watched Mr. Jones take a knife from his pocket and approach Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he saw Mr. Jones use the knife to attack Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. [WITNESS #1] were able to take the knife away. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he placed the knife in his vehicle and witnessed Mr. Jones approach Mr. [VICTIM #1] again with another knife. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he placed Mr. Jones in a choke hold and was able to take the other knife away. Mr. [WITNESS #1] then released Mr. Jones and drove him off the property.
Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he later was informed that a fire was taking place at Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s residence and came back to see if he could help. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he did see Mr. Jones on the property but was unable to say where Mr. Jones went. Mr. [WITNESS #1] had possession of both knives and handed them over the Deputy H. Breningstall (940).
I spoke with the victim, Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated all of this started on 05/27/2026 when Mr. Jones stated he was going to burn his own property. Mr. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Jones to not burn his sister’s, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stuff. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Jones told him that he could burn what he wanted since he paid for her stuff. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated since his sister was not on the property, he dropped the issue and went about his day.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated around 0000 hours today, Mr. Jones came on his property and went on his property to have a talk, “man to man”. When they exited the house, Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated an argument occurred about burning his sister’s things. Mr. [VICTIM #1] was unable to remember what was said during the argument but during the argument Mr. Jones took a canned container and threw it at his head that made contact with the top of his head. I asked to see if the can left a mark and Mr. [VICTIM #1] showed me, I observed no markings or bruising.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Jones to leave the property. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated the argument continued as Mr. Jones made his way to the front of a truck that Mr. [WITNESS #1] owned. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he saw Mr. Jones lift a knife and hold it in his right hand with his arm fully extended out to his side. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Jones approached him while he was standing near the tailgate of the truck and slashed him on his chest at caused a red laceration mark to appear on the right side his chest going down past his nipple. I asked to see the injury and Mr. [VICTIM #1] lifted up his shirt, and I saw a red vertical laceration that was no more than surface deep on the right side on his chest going across his nipple. I saw no other wounds on his body.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated after the first attack, he fell backwards on the ground and wrestled with Mr. Jones to get the knife from him. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. [WITNESS #1] helped him take the knife. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he watched Mr. [WITNESS #1] take Mr. Jones back to his truck when he watched Mr. Jones take another knife from his pocket and approach him again. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he watched Mr. [WITNESS #1] put Mr. Jones in a choke hold and wrestle the knife from him. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. [WITNESS #1] and Mr. Jones left the property. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he decided to leave the property as well to calm down.
Around 0445 hours, he was informed by text message from a neighbor that Mr. Jones appeared back on the property and began to break things. Mr. [VICTIM #1] arrived to see Mr. Jones standing by a fire, which was in front of his residence, with his belonging in it. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Jones left the property, while Mr. [VICTIM #1] was dealing with the fire. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he saw that a window to his trailer was smashed in.
I asked Mr. [VICTIM #1] if he knew what was burned. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he had 5 BMX bikes he estimated to be about $200 each and two law chairs and a table he estimated to be around $150 burned. He also stated the window that was smashed in to be $200 in estimated repairs. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he called 911 and waited for the Fire Department. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he wanted to press charges.
I spoke with Mr. [WITNESS #2]. Mr. [WITNESS #2] stated he was at the property when the argument happened. Mr. [WITNESS #2] stated he saw Mr. Jones pull a knife out of his pocket and walk towards Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [WITNESS #2] stated he saw Mr. Jones slash at Mr. [VICTIM #1] but was not sure that it made contact. Mr. [WITNESS #2] stated he left immediately after witnessing the event and was not present during the fire but arrived on scene while we were present to check on Mr. [VICTIM #1].
I spoke with Mr. [WITNESS #3], who is Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s father. Mr. [WITNESS #3] stated he was in his house and did not witness any of the events but came out when he saw the fire.
