On 02/13/25, at 0927 hours, I was dispatched to [700 BLOCK] Grayson Ave, in refrence to an armed subject threating to shoot the complainant’s dog.

Upon arrival, SPO Bethea 119 and I made contact with the complainant, Mr [VICTIM #1].

Mr [VICTIM #1] stated today he was walking his dog, a Husky named Oddie, down the sidewalk. Mr [VICTIM #1] said while he was walking on the sidewalk, he passed by house [700 BLOCK] on Grayson Ave and heard a noise coming from speakers stating, “if your dog steps on my property, I will shoot it”. Mr [VICTIM #1] said he realized the homeowner was home and was talking to him through the camera speakers around the house. The homeowner for [700 BLOCK] Grayson Ave is Mr De’anthoney Buckles.

Oddie was a breed of Husky; he was leashed and wearing an emotional support aninmal vest.

Mr [VICTIM #1] asked Mr Buckles if he could repeat what he was saying to make sure he heard him correctly and Mr Bucklkes stated again, “if your dog steps on my property, I will shoot it”. Mr [VICTIM #1] said he pulled out his phone to recored the incident, when he asked Mr Buckles again to repeat his statement, Mr Buckles stated he would come outside and tell him in person.

Mr Buckles stepped outside of his residence and told Mr [VICTIM #1], “if you put your dog in my yard again, I will shoot it”. Mr Buckles repeats his statement mutiple times and eventually goes back inside of his residence.

Mr [VICTIM #1] stated once Mr Buckles went back inside, he kept walking his dog. Mr [VICTIM #1] said while he was walking away, he turned around and saw Mr Buckles step outside of his apartment with a gun in his hand. Mr [VICTIM #1] said he was not even on Mr Buckles property.

Mr [VICTIM #1] showed me the video of the incidnet.

The video showed Mr Buckles talking to Mr [VICTIM #1] in person stating, “I will shoot your dog, if it steps on my property” and, “if you put your dog in my yard again, I will shoot it”. Mr [VICTIM #1] and Mr Buckles verbal dispute continued and while they are talking, Mr [VICTIM #1]’s dog steps on Mr Buckles property. Mr Buckles then enters his residence. The second video starts where Mr Buckles is standing in his doorway, racks his firearm, and started talking to Mr [VICTIM #1] again. In the video you can also hear the firearm being chambered. Mr Buckles then continues to hold his firearm by his side.

Mr [VICTIM #1] stated he saw Mr Buckles rack the side back on his firearm as he made contact with him again. He thought that Mr Buckles was going to shoot at him and his dog.

Scpl Williams 199, SPO Bethea 119, and I made contact with Mr De’anthoey Buclkes. Mr Buckles stated in the past, Mr [VICTIM #1] and his wife had walked thier dog past his house. Mr Buckles stated his issue was Mr [VICTIM #1] or his wife would let the their dog poop in his yard and not pick it up. Mr Buclkes stated he spoke with Mr [VICTIM #1] a second time explaining him and his wife, they need to keep their dog off his property. Mr Buckles said today while he was home, he saw Mr [VICTIM #1] walking his dog and his dog had stepped on his property.

Mr Buckles stated he told Mr [VICTIM #1], “if you let your dog in my yard again, I will shoot it”. Mr Buckles stated Mr [VICTIM #1] asked him what did he say and Mr Buckles stated he would go outside in person to repeat himself. Mr buclkes then went outside and told Mr [VICTIM #1], “if you let your dog in my yard again, Im going to shoot it”.

Mr Buckles stated while he was talking to Mr [VICTIM #1], his dog had stepped onto his property and this caused him to retrieve his firearm. Mr Buckles stated he felt as if the dog was going to cause his harm and Mr [VICTIM #1] was provoking him. When I asked Mr Buckles how the dog was aggressive, he stated it step back on his hard after he told Mr [VICTIM #1] to keep his dog of his yard. The dog was leashed and wearing a harness.

Mr Buckles said he came outside with his firearm and held it by his side, pointing at the ground. Mr Buckles stated before he exited his house, he had racked the slide to his firearm back and stated Mr [VICTIM #1] definitely heard him rack his firearm. Mr Buckles also provided video of the incident through his house camera’s.

The video showed Mr Buckles perspective from his doorbell. The video showed Mr Buckles talking to Mr [VICTIM #1] in person stating, “I will shoot your dog, if it steps on my proptery” and, “if you put your dog in my yard again, I will shoot it”. Mr [VICTIM #1] and Mr Buckles verbal dispute continute and while they are talking, Mr [VICTIM #1]’s dog steps on Mr Buckles property. Mr Buckles then enters his resdience and comes back outside with his firearm. During this time, you can see Mr Buckles hold his firearm by his side.

With both Mr [VICTIM #1]’s statement, [VICTIM #1] video, Mr Buckles statement, and his video, Mr De’anthoney Buckles was placed under arrest for aggeravted assault.

Mr Buckles was placed in handcuffs, which were double locked and check for fit, and placed in the back of my patrol vehicle. Mr Buckles was transported to Liberty county jail and released to jail staff.

I cleared the scene without incident. My department issue body worn camera was on and recording during this call.

Warrants will be taken out in reference to Mr Buckles aggravated assault charges within a reasonable time.
