On 6/21/2022, at 1959 hrs, I observed a grey GMC Canyon (TX tag [REDACTED]) traveling east on S Main St with red daytime driving headlights.

I made a safe U-turn and activated my emergency equipment (lights/siren) to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. My final stop location was in the parking lot of 770 S Main St (EnMarket).

I approached the driver, Jesus Gonzalez, and explained the reason for the stop. I requested his registration, proof of insurance, and driver’s license. Mr Gonzalez handed me a expired Mexican international driver’s license expiration date 5/21/2021. I asked Mr Gonzalez how long he has lived in Georgia. He stated he has been in America for four months and was living in Texas. He then stated he has been in Georgia for a month.

Mr Gonzalez was placed under arrest for no drivers license o.c.g.a. 40-5-20A. He was issued citations for no drivers license o.c.g.a 40-5-20a and color of lighting o.c.g.a 40-8-34. He was given a mandatory court date of 7/13/2022.

Mr Gonzalez’s vehicle was released to his friend and licensed driver, [REDACTED].

The arrest and transport of the suspect followed department protocol consisting of the suspect being searched, handcuffs being applied, checked for proper fit, and double locked. The suspect was placed in the backseat of ofc Santiago’s patrol vehicle and was seat belted in for transport. The vehicle was searched prior to and after transport with no contraband found.

The suspect was released to the custody of the Liberty County detention staff without incident.

My department-issued body worn camera was on and recording.
