On June 25, 2022, at 1508 hours, I was traveling eastbound on Georgia 38 in the inside lane of travel. I observed the driver of a white 2016 Kia Optima (Ga:[REDACTED]) traveling next to me without wearing a seatbelt. I activated my emergency equipment (lights and sirens) and conducted a traffic stop. Final traffic stop location being in the parking lot of the Pal N Food Mart.

I made contact with the driver (Sian Robinson) and explained to her the reason for the traffic stop. I asked her for her driver’s license, which she gave. While speaking to her I smelled the odor of brunt marijuana coming from her vehicle. I returned to my patrol vehicle and radioed for Cpl Lesinski to come to my traffic stop to assist. Cpl Lesinski arrived on scene. I asked the driver to step of the vehicle, which she did.

I asked the driver how much marijuana was inside the vehicle and she said she had a little in the center console. I asked Cpl Lesinski to conduct a search of her person, which she did. No contraband was found. I conducted a hand search of the vehicle. Inside the center console I located a half smoked blunt and three small bags containing a green leafy substance. Inside a green wallet which was on the front seat, I located a small white pill with the letter M on it. I secured the contraband and placed it inside my patrol vehicle.

I asked the driver when the last time she used marijuana, she said she smoked half a blunt around 1000 hours. I asked the driver if she would perform field sobriety and she said yes.

Lighting conditions consisted of day light. The exercise surface was flat, smooth, and dry. The driver stated she did not wear glasses. Each exercise was explained and demonstrated to the driver and when asked if she understood, she gave a verbal yes.

I told the driver she was being placed under arrest for driving under the influence. I placed the driver in handcuffs, checked for fit, and doubled locked. I placed the driver in the rear of my patrol car and seat belted her in. The backseat of my patrol vehicle was searched after my last transport with no contraband being found. I read the Georgia implied consent notice for suspects age 21 and over. The driver gave a verbal yes for blood. I transported the driver to the Liberty Regional Medical Center where the phlebotomist drew her blood. I then transported the driver to the Liberty County Jail for further processing. The backseat of my patrol vehicle was searched after transport with no contraband being found.

The driver was issued a citation for driving under the influence and seatbelt violation.

The vehicle was released to [REDACTED].
