On 02/01/2026 at approximately 2348 I. Deputy L. Childers 7670 responded to [100 BLOCK] Ivywod Dr in Madison County in reference to a domestic dispute.
As I arrived in the area the caller, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told 911 dispatchers that the offender Darrell Moore was leaving in a burgundy truck. I observed Darrell as he left. I lost sight of him and continued to the incident location.
Upon arrival I met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she was laying on the couch when Darrell approached her and accused her of cheating on him. Derrell threw items that were on a nearby coffee table to the floor and took [REDACTED BY AGENCY] phone.
Darrell then grabbed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] by the neck and pinned her to the couch. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] acted out the act by wrapping both her hands around her neck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she did not lose conciseness but was unable to talk, breath, and that her vison became blurry. Darrell stopped choking [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Darrell slapped [REDACTED BY AGENCY] on the left side of the face. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that the slap made momentarily loose vison and made her ear ring.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] plead with Derrell to stop before retrieving another phone and fleeing to the bathroom. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called 911 and we responded. I observed redness on the front and side of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] neck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] complained of pain in her neck and requested EMS. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was evaluated by EMS and refused transport to the hospital.
Based off my training and experiences with dealing with incidents involving strangulation the pattern of the redness was consistent with strangulation using both hands wrapped around the neck. While both individuals are face to face. I did not observed redness to the area the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said she received the slap. It is notable that I responded a short time after the incident, enough time did not pass for the injury to present its self beyond redness.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that Darrell likely went to his friend’s house. Myself and other deputies were able to locate Darrell at [500 BLOCK] Piedmont Rd. Darrel was interviewed. Darrell reported that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] accused him of cheating on her and nocked items off of the coffee table and began arguing with him.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she was going to call 911. Darrell said that he grabbed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] phone to prevent her from calling 911. Darrell said that he stood outside of the bathroom as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called 911 using a different phone.
I asked Darrell to begin at the beginning of the incident and tell me what took place. Darrell said that he was seated in the living room with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] began accusing him of cheating and began arguing with him before nocking items off of the coffee table and threating to call 911. Darrell took phone to prevent her calling 911 [REDACTED BY AGENCY] retrieved a phone and called 911.
Derrell was asked how [REDACTED BY AGENCY] received injuries to her neck. Derrell said that he did not know and he had was a pillow. Derrell appeared to stop mid-sentence. Darrell was asked to continue. Derrell said that he was pushing her with the pillow and that he did not choke her. I found it notable that Derrell denied choking [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. At no time did any deputies claim the Darrell choked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] or mention choking.
Having probable cause to believe that Derrell used his hands to strangle [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and physically preventing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] from calling 911 by taking her phone, Derrell was arrested. I will seek warrants for aggravated assault (O.C.G.A 16-5-21) and interfering with a 911 call (16-10-24.3).
Darrell was cuffed behind the back. The cuffs where checked for fit and double locked. Derrell was searched incident to arrest. Derrell was secured in a seat belt prior to transport to the jail.
