On April 13th, 2025 I responded to [200 BLOCK] Faye Carey Rd in reference to a fight in progress. Dispatch advised that people were actively fighting and I activated my emergency lights and siren and responded at a high rate of speed using due regard. Prior to my arrival, dispatch informed me that the caller had stated that a female was bleeding from the mouth and had requested EMS for treatment.

Upon my arrival, I met with [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1]. EMS arrived on scene and began treating [VICTIM #1] who had a large knot on her forehead just above her left eye, was bleeding from her mouth and had other lacerasions on her knees and had a patch of hair ripped out of the top of her head.

[WITNESS #1] stated that a female and a male had shown up shortly after [VICTIM #1] arrived on scene. [WITNESS #1] stated that [VICTIM #1] had picked up a garden hoe and stood her ground because it appeared that the male and female were coming after her. [WITNESS #1] stated that the female then began fighting with [VICTIM #1] and was hitting her. [WITNESS #1] stated that [VICTIM #1] no longer had the garden hoe and was now fighting back against the female. [WITNESS #1] stated that both [VICTIM #1] and the female went to the ground and continues fighting. [WITNESS #1] stated that the male then ran up and punches [VICTIM #1] in the head and he went up and pull the male off of [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated that the female and the male then left the scene.

[VICTIM #1] refused to be transported for her injuries by EMS. [VICTIM #1] stated that the male was Canyon Samples, her live-in boyfriend, and his aunt Debbie Lyons, had attacked him. [VICTIM #1] stated that this all started off from an arguement between her and Canyon about money. [VICTIM #1] stated that they were driving on hwy 29 she pulled over to put Canyon out of the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated that Canyon was trying to fight her but she got in her vehicle and left the scene. [VICTIM #1] stated that she decided that she was going to break up with Canyon and went to his relatives residence where she knew Canyon had kept a phone that she was paying for. [VICTIM #1] stated that was when she went to [200 BLOCK] Faye Carey Rd. [VICTIM #1] stated that shortly after she arrived, Debbie and Canyon pulled up on scene. [VICTIM #1] stated that she grabbed a garden hoe in an attempt to protect herself because she felt that Debbie and Canyon were coming to get her.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Debbie got in her face yelling at her. [VICTIM #1] stated that another family member was behind her and she handed off the garden hoe to this family member. [VICTIM #1] stated that just after handing off the garden hoe, Debbie began punching her in the face. [VICTIM #1] stated that she fought back and was punching Debbie back. [VICTIM #1] stated that her and Debbie then went to the ground still fighting each other. [VICTIM #1] stated that Debbie had got behind and had her wrapped up. [VICTIM #1] stated that she then bit Debbie on the inside of her right forearm because it was near her mouth. [VICTIM #1] stated that she latch on to Debbie’s arm until Debbie told her that she had AIDS.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she let go of Debbie’s arm with her mouth and then Canyon had run up and punched her really hard in the left side of her head just above the eye. [VICTIM #1] stated that Debbie and Canyon then got up and left the scene. [VICTIM #1] stated that she did not wish to pursue any criminal charges against Debbie nor Canyon and just wanted everything to be over.

[VICTIM #1] stated that her and Canyon had been dating and were living together at her mother’s residence at [1100 BLOCK] Reno Rd in Royston. I informed [VICTIM #1] that her and Canyon were in a qualifying Family Violence relationship. I informed [VICTIM #1] that if she did not wish to pursue criminal charges against Debbie that was her choice but the state would be persuing criminal charges against Canyon. I provided [VICTIM #1] with a case number card and a victim’s bill of rights pamphlet.

Another family member had stated that she knew Debbie was living at [1300 BLOCK] Macedonia Church Rd and believed that Debbie was currently there. I then left the scene to attempt to make contact with Debbie.

I relocated to [1300 BLOCK] Macedonia Church Rd and met with Debbie. Debbie stated that she had been called by Canyon and told [VICTIM #1] had hit him and tried to run him over with a vehicle. Debbie stated that she came and picked up Canyon and drove him over to [200 BLOCK] Faye Carey Rd to confront her.

Debbie stated that when she arrived on scene, [VICTIM #1] had picked up a shovel. Debbie stated that she walked up to [VICTIM #1] and as she started fussing at [VICTIM #1] about throwing Canyon out of her vehicle, she started punching Debbie in the face. Debbie stated that [VICTIM #1] then bit onto her right forearm and was latched on. Debbie stated that [VICTIM #1] would not let go until she told her that she had AIDS. Debbie stated that Canyon then came up to get [VICTIM #1] off her and they left the scene on foot. Debbie stated that she came back towards her residence and she had no idea which way Canyon had gone. I advised Debbie to call if she discovered anything about Canyon’s where abouts.

I had dispatch run Debbie’s name and date of birth through GCIC and they informed me that Debbie had warrants for her arrest out of Madison County for hit and run and failure to stop at a stop sign.

I informed Debbie and took her into custody for her warrant. Debbie was handcuffed behine the back, checking proper fit and double locked. Debbie’s person was searches and I transported her to the Madison County Jail and turned her over to the jail staff without further incident.

I photographed Debbie and [VICTIM #1]’s injuries using Axon Capture. All photos taken were uploaded to Evidence.com. Canyon was determined to be the predominant agressor and I will be obtaining a warrant for his arrest for Battery FVA (OCGA 16-5-23.1).
