On 5/20/2026 at approximately 0933 hours, dispatch issued a BOLO (Be On The Look Out) for a Black Camero with a handicap license plate being driven by a Black male driver with a bald head who pointed a firearm at someone while traveling North on I75. The victim remained on the phone with dispatch and continued to give updates on the vehicle’s location. Dispatch also advised that the victim stated that the handgun that was pointed at him was Black with a Silver slide.

I was able to intercept the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop by activating my blue lights. The vehicle pulled over at the 187NB. I made contact with the driver and had him exit the vehicle. Upon the Driver’s exit, I checked to ensure he did not have any weapons on his person. I was able to then identify the driver as Adrian Mitchell.

I asked Mr. Mitchell if he had any weapons in the vehicle, to which he stated that there weren’t, and asked what was going on. I advised Mr. Mitchell of the reason for the stop. Mr. Mitchell stated that there was a car that kept brake-checking him, and he had his phone and wallet in his hand and kept waving for the driver to go on ahead of him. I asked Mr. Mitchell if he had any issue with me looking for a weapon. He stated that he did not have any problems with me checking, but didn’t understand what was happening.

Upon opening the passenger door, I observed a White tin can that had a lid inside of it. When I lifted the lid, I discovered a handgun ( Smith & Wesson SD9 Serial # FCA3587) which matched the description of the one the victim gave. I then placed Mr. Mitchell in handcuffs, double-locking them and checking for proper fitment. I had dispatch run the serial number of the firearm, and it returned no record.

I advised Mr. Mitchell that he was under arrest and placed him in the backseat of my patrol car. Mid-GA towing took possession of the Camero. I transported Mr. Mitchell to the Monroe County Jail, where custody was transferred to the jail staff.

I later spoke with the victim, Mr. [VICTIM #1], who advised me that when the gun was pointed at him, he feared for his life, that he might get shot. I charged Mr. Mitchell with aggravated assault. It was later determined that Mr. Mitchell was a convicted felon with prior charges of aggravated assault and pointing a gun at another. I then added an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
