On Monday August 31, 2026, I, Deputy Wilson, received a message from Captain Clay about an animal case.

Capt. Clay stated that he received correspondence from [REDACTED] about dog abandonment and animal cruelty charges. He printed the information and asked me to follow up.

I contacted [REDACTED] about the dog. She stated the dog has been running loose in the neighborhood and getting into neighbor’s trash. The house is located at [20 BLOCK] W. Old Indian Springs Road. [REDACTED] stated she had multiple calls about the dog. I was advised the Pitbull dog had no water, food, or shelter at the residence. The following day, [REDACTED] said the sister of Derrick Mann contacted her about the dog. She said Derrick owns the dog and has not been providing for it.

The sister advised [REDACTED] that Derrick has left the residence and no longer resides on the property. Derrick Mann now lives with his aunt at [70 BLOCK] Jones Street. [REDACTED] has reached out to Mann on several occasions, but Mann will not return the calls. On August 25, 2026, animal control picked up the dog. Derrick has yet to contact anyone about the dog.

I traveled to [70 BLOCK] Jones Street and spoke with [REDACTED], Derrick’s brother. I asked [REDACTED] if Derrick was there, he stated, “No he’s working”. I asked if he was living there and [REDACTED] stated he was off and on between there and [20 BLOCK] W. Old Indian Springs. I know there is no electricity at the [20 BLOCK] W. Old Indian Springs address. [REDACTED] then stated he knew the dog was picked up by animal control. I gave [REDACTED] a business card and told him to have Derrick had contact me.

Update 9-8-26:

I have yet to hear from Derrick Mann.

Update 9-9-26:

I spoke with [REDACTED] today in the parking lot of the commissioners office. [REDACTED] said he gave Derrick my card and advised him to call me. I have issued warrants for Derrick Mann for animal cruelty and abandonment of dog.
