On Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, at approximately 19:14, I, DS R. Wilson was dispatched to [400 BLOCK] Edwards Road, in reference to the home at the address being on fire. Prior to my arrival, I was advised by dispatch that the reporting party believes that the fire had been set intentionally by Elizabeth Pruitt. Upon my arrival, I began to speak with witnesses, while the Monroe County Fire Department attempted to extinguish the fire.

Witness 1: [WITNESS #1]
Mr. [WITNESS #1] advised that he got home from work at approximately 16:15 this evening, and, when driving by the residence, saw the prior resident, Elizabeth Pruitt, moving her belongings out of the home, while her kids played in the yard. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated that later that evening at approximately 19:10, he thought that he saw a fire behind the same house, but quickly realized that the back of the home itself was on fire. Mr. [WITNESS #1] said, that, after observing that the fire was getting larger, he called 911. Mr. [WITNESS #1] checked his phone record and observed that his call the 911 started at 19:12.

Witness 2: [WITNESS #2]
Ms. [WITNESS #2] stated that a few minutes after 19:00, she looked out of her window and saw that there was a fire at the back of the house located across the street. Ms. [WITNESS #2] stated that she immediately went and spoke to her husband, who called 911 a few minutes later.

Witness 3: [WITNESS #3]
Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated that she believed Ms. Elizabeth Pruitt was responsible for starting the fire that had now fully englufed the home. When I asked Ms. [WITNESS #3] to further explain her reasoning, she stated that, this initially started on December 30th, 2025. On December 30th, 2025, Ms. [WITNESS #3]’s daughter, [VICTIM #1], who was the homeowner, had gone to court and formally evicted the current resident, Ms. Elizabeth Pruitt.

After having their court hearing, Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated that Ms. Pruitt had told the judge and Ms. [VICTIM #1] that she would be completely moved out of the home on January 6th, 2026. On January 5th, Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated that her daughter, [VICTIM #1], had been told by her friend [REDACTED], that Ms. Pruitt made an unusual post of Facebook. Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated that the facebook post made by Ms. Pruitt stated that she was going to burn the house down and that she always comes out on top.

Ms. [WITNESS #3] then explained that she had seen Ms. Elizabeth Pruitt at the residence at approximately 18:00, this evening. Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated that Ms. Pruitt was moving her boxes out of the home and was loading them into her car. Ms. [WITNESS #3] described the car as a dark gray pontiac that belonged to a Ms. [REDACTED]. Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated that she did not see anyone else with Ms. Pruitt during this time, but also advised that someone may have been inside of the home helping move boxes out. Ms. [WITNESS #3] also stated that it appeared that the fire had been started in the back left bedroom of the home.

After speaking all three of these witnesses, I then spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1], who had now arrived on scene. When I spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1], she advised that Ms. Pruitt had recently been evicted from the home, and was scheduled to be completely moved out this evening. Despite this, Ms. [VICTIM #1] then showed me a screenshot of a text exchange between both parties.

In the text messages, Ms. Pruitt was seen telling Ms. [VICTIM #1] that she would be returning tomorrow, January 7th, to pick up her childrens bicycles and her truck, that was still parked in the front yard. This text message was sent at 18:01. Despite the text message stating that Ms. Pruitt would be returning tomorrow for her truck, we observed that the truck was no longer at the residence. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that the truck in question was Black in color, however, she could not provide a make and model.

While continuing to speak with Ms. [VICTIM #1], she stated that her friend, [REDACTED], had contacted her yesterday to let her know that Ms. Pruitt made a strange post on Facebook. Ms. [VICTIM #1] then stated that the post made by Ms. Pruitt contained statements about burning the house down and coming out on top. Ms. [VICTIM #1] then provided me with a photo of Ms. Elizabeth Pruitt. Ms. Pruitt appears to be a moderately heavy set, white female with a left shoulder tattoo that contains a cross surrounded by multiple flowers.

A photo of Ms. Pruitt will be attached to this case number. Ms. Pruitt also provided a photo of the text message exchange between both parties, during which Ms. Pruitt stated she would be returning tomorrow to get that truck, that was no longer on scene. Scanned copies of witness statements will also be attached to this case number.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] was provided with a case number for this incident and was advised that she would need to speak to the investigators prior to them leaving the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.
