On 10/2/2026 at approximately 0557, I, Deputy Bell, and Sgt. Bryson were patrolling the area of Logistic Center Pkwy. While patrolling, we observed a vehicle with an expired registration. The vehicle also matched the description of a vehicle driven by a wanted person. Sgt. Bryson conducted a traffic stop by activating his emergency equipment. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot at Gresco.
Upon making contact with the driver, I asked for his driver’s license. The driver provided me with an identification card, and I was able to identify him as Eric Evans. I asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and checked him for weapons. Upon running the driver’s information, it was determined that he had active warrants out of Monroe County.
Mr. Evans was placed in handcuffs behind his back, double-locked, and checked for proper fit. I advised Mr. Evans that he had active warrants and was under arrest, and then placed him in the backseat of the patrol car.
Upon doing inventory search of the vehicle incident to arrest, I located a firearm inside the center console loaded with one round in the chamber. Dispatch ran a criminal history on Mr. Evans and advised that he was a convicted felon. I also located an opened empty beer can, cold to the touch, behind the driver’s seat. There were also five unopened cold beer cans in the front passenger seat in the box.
The vehicle was turned over to Comer’s Towing. Mr. Evans was transported to the Monroe County Jail, where custody was turned over to the jail staff without incident. The firearm was turned in as evidence. Mr. Evans was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, seatbelt (adult), open container of alcohol, no license on person, and expired registration, along with the original warrants for stalking, impersonating an officer x2, and misd. criminal trespass.
