On Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, at approximately 2038 hrs, I, Deputy Powell, was patrolling Monroe County on Georgia Highway 18 driving north near the intersection of Aubrey Mays road. I then observed a vehicle approaching from the rear which I visually estimated to be around 70 miles an hour in a posted 55 zone. I then activated my Stalker Radar (Ser.# DD-033882) using the rear antenna, same direction and locked the vehicle’s speed at 72 miles an hour. I then pulled off the right side of the road to let the vehicle pass me so I could initiate a traffic stop. Once behind the vehicle, a black Chevrolet Trax with Ga Tag display “[REDACTED],” I activated my emergency lights on my marked patrol vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Georgia 18 near mile marker 3.

Once the vehicle stopped, I exited my patrol vehicle and did a driver’s side approach, making contact with the driver who I identified by her Georgia ID card as Erin Harrison. I advised Erin of her speed and she stated she was on the way home from work. When asked where she works, she stated she worked at a doctor’s office. I then asked which one, which she replied, “not Bass, not all of the above right? So yes.” I then asked Erin if she was ok and she stated yes, just scared. When asked of what she stated “all of the above.” While speaking to Erin, I observed her to have red watery eyes, slurred speech, and I smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from inside the vehicle.

I then asked Eric to exit the vehicle, which she did. While exiting the vehicle, Erin was unsteady. I then asked Erin how much she has had to drink and she stated “not a lot.” She then stated she had one seltzer. I asked Erin if she would perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST), which she stated she would.

The first SFST conducted was Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test. After asked Erin if she had any issues with her eyes, she stated she wears contacts and can’t see without them. I then asked Erin if she would have issues walking, turning, and balancing to which she stated no. I then had her stand in the start position. I explained this test to her and asked if she understood to which she stated yes. During this evaluation, Erin displayed a lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and onset nystagmus prior to 45 degrees in both eyes. Erin also swayed during this entire test.

The second SFST conducted was the walk and turn test. After having Erin stand in the start position, I explained and demonstrated this test to her. After asked if she understood, she stated yes and began before instructed to. I then instructed her to stand in the start position once again and asked her if she understood, which she stated “I do, it’s just hard when you’re not you.” I then advised her to begin. During this evaluation, Erin stepped off the line on her 3rd step and stopped, I then advised Erin to continue, after continuing, Erin began at number one again. Erin then counted to 7, while taking 8 steps after the first initial stop at step 3, taking a total of 11 steps. While at the end of her first pass, Erin stopped and lost balance, falling onto her car. I then advised Erin that we would move onto the next test.

The third SFST conducted was the one leg stand. I had Erin stand in the start position while I explained and demonstrated this test to her. I asked her if she understood, which she stated yes. During this evaluation, Erin swayed, put her foot down around the 7 second mark while losing her balance. She then raised her foot and started again from one. Shortly after starting again, she put her foot on the ground for the rest of the evaluation.

I asked Erin if she would give a breath sample for my alco sensor, which she stated she would. The results indicated a high positive reading for alcohol.

I placed Erin in handcuffs with her hands behind her back. The handcuffs were double-locked and checked for fit. I read her the Georgia Implied Consent Notice For Suspects Age 21 Or Over (Green Card) requesting breath. Erin consented to the State Test. The vehicle was inventoried and later turned over to Buice Towing.

I transported Erin to the Monroe County Jail and searched my patrol vehicle before and after transport. At the jail, he was given the State Test on the Intoxylizer 9000. The results of the test were .218 and .216. Erin was cited for speeding 72/55, driving while license suspended, and DUI. Erin was turned over to the custody of the jail staff.
