On Wednesday April 30, 2025 at approximately 1513 hours, I, Deputy Yeager, was going to initiate a traffic stop on a 2008 Mercury passenger car driven by (Joshua Scott). My reason for initating the traffic stop was for having a tinted windshield.

I was getting onto the 198 South bound ramp when I noticed Joshua in the far left lane behind me. I stayed at a pace of under 70 MPH in the far right lane waiting for Joshua to get closer so I could verify that his vehicle windshield was tinted. Once Joshua passed by me, I merged over into the far left lane to get behind him.

When Joshua noticed I was getting behind him he rapidly started accelerating. I then called out over the radio that I was going to initiate the traffic stop. I reached speeds of 113 MPH catching up to Joshua at the 194 South bound. Once I caught up to Joshua he merged over into the middle lane rapidly hitting his brakes slowing down to 45 MPH. Joshua then rolled his driver window down looking over at me yelling and while pounding his hand against his chest. While Joshua was rapidly slowing down he caused a tractor trailer to rear end his vehicle and then proceeded to rapidly accelerate away from me.

Upon approaching the 193 South bound, Joshua aggressively merged in between two passenger vehicles. I then called over the radio that I will be in a vehicle pursuit with Joshua.

While pursuing Joshua we had reached speeds of 116 MPH while Joshua was aggressively swerving between all lanes of traffic. Upon approaching the 191 South bound SGT. Anthony Thompson had advised that he was standing by waiting to pursuit the vehicle with me.

While in pursuit Joshua went into the 190 South bound weigh station with SGT. Anthony Thompson following behind his vehicle. At that time I attempted to block off the on ramp from the Weigh station to the interstate. Joshua then drove through all lanes of traffic to avoid my vehicle and continued going south bound at high rates of speed.

Joshua got off at the 188 south bound exit still traveling at a high rate of speed. Joshua then went off the roadway into the ditch and attempting to get back onto the 188 south bound on ramp. At this time Joshua wrecked his vehicle at the 188 South bound on ramp and began to flee on foot.

At this time SGT. Anthony Thompson and I began to chase Joshua on foot on the side of the 188 South bound on ramp. Joshua then jumped over the fence making an attempt to escape. I then jumped over the fence and continued to pursue Joshua on foot over the railroad tracks onto Indian springs drive.

Joshua was apprehended on Indian Springs Dr near Ensign Rd and was attempting to resist arrest. At this time I drew my taser, removed the cartridge and placed my taser against Joshua’s back while other deputies were giving verbal commands for Joshua to place his hands behind his back and restraining Joshua in handcuffs. During this incident my taser was not activated against the subject.

Once Joshua was in custody I secured my taser and helped other deputies assist Joshua to his feet and securing him into the rear of a patrol vehicle.

Joshua was then transported to the jail where I had picked him up to transport him to the Monroe County Emergency Room. Joshua was examined, and required stitches on his right palm due to a laceration. Joshua was then cleared by the Hospital and transported back to the jail.
