On 05/24/2022 at approximately 22:32 hours I, Deputy Towe responded to [20 BLOCK] Kings Parkway in reference to the caller, [VICTIM #1] stating that his son, Hunter Cummings was destroying the residence.
Upon arrival I made contact with Mr. [VICTIM #1] and his wife, [VICTIM #2] in the yard. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that Hunter had physically touched him and that he had taken the keys to his building. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then pointed across Norton Bridge Rd and stated that Hunter was on the other side.
I then made contact with Hunter, who presented irate in that he was yelling and cursing. I could also see that Hunter was holding a small black, reflective object in his left hand. I then gave [Hunter] a loud verbal command to lay on the ground. [Hunter] then yelled “I’m not laying on the ground. You’re going to have to fu*king shoot me!” [Hunter] then began to advance on me while I attempted to create distance. As Hunter got closer to me I was able to identify the object in his hand as a cell phone.
I then gave Hunter another verbal command to get on kneel on the ground. Hunter then asked if I was going to arrest him. I informed him that I was going to place him in handcuffs, but he was only being detained at that time. Hunter them complied and I was able to place him in handcuffs behind his back. I then assisted Hunter to his feet and escorted him to the rear of my patrol car. I asked Hunter if he was intoxicated, to which he stated that he was not and that he only wanted to go get some “weed” then go to bed. I then placed Hunter in the rear seat of my patrol car.
I then went to the residence to speak with Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mrs. [VICTIM #2]. Once at the residence I made contact with Hunter’s brother, [WITNESS #1]. Upon entering the residence I observed a brown, wood stove cover with “Mama’s Kitchen” painted on it laying the floor in several pieces. I then observed a black picture frame and wall clock laying on the couch. Both items appeared to be broken.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] then advised me that he belied hunter was on drugs, possibly Klonopin. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that Hunter had made a comment about “going to get a pill”. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then explained that the incident began because he would not let Hunter drive his truck. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that Hunter then grabbed the keys to his building. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that when he attempted to get the keys from Hunter, Hunter shoved him in the chest.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] then advised me that Hunter had put a hole in the bedroom door beside his (Hunter’s) bedroom door. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then stated that Hunter had ripped his own bedroom door off and threw it in his room. I then entered Hunter’s room and observed the door laying on his bed, propped against the wall. I also observed cigarette butts and ash laying on the floor, along with what appeared to be a shattered, clear, glass ashtray.
I gathered information from Mr. [VICTIM #1], Mrs. [VICTIM #2], and [WITNESS #1] and advised them that I would be arresting Hunter. I then returned to my patrol car and informed Hunter that he was under arrest. Hunter then began to violently kick the partition and scream obscenities at me. I then transported Hunter to the Murray County Detention where he was turned over to jail staff without further incident.
