I, SFC Tom Rhodes returned to the Murray County Sheriff’s Office parking lot. As I was getting out of my patrol vehicle, I observed a male subject identified as Justin Camper that had been released earlier tonight from the Murray County Detention Center open the back side passenger door of Detention Officer Megan Powers’s private vehicle.

When I yelled at him, Mr. Campers shut the door and walked toward me. I asked him what he was doing and he stated that he thought he saw someone sitting in the back seat that he knew. I placed Mr. Camper under arrest for criminal trespass for opening the door, but did not enter the vehicle.

Detention Staff took Mr. Camper back to the booking area for processing. Detention Officer Powers came to the squad room and gave me a baggy that contained a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana and was turned in as evidence. Mr. Camper was also charged for crossing the guard line with the substance.

Mr. Camper was released earlier and had been in the waiting room of the Detention Center and had been seated in the waiting room of the Detention Center must of the night. Officers had asked him several times if there was any place they could take him and we would say that he wanted back in there, pointing to the door going to the booking area. He had left the area for a while, but returned a short time later.
