On July 14, 2025, at approximately 8:14pm, I, Deputy N. Smith, and Deputy R. Windom were dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Nightwind Dr, in reference to a physical domestic violence incident. Shortly after being dispatched, I was advised that the caller and another victim had left the scene and wished to meet at Dollar General (33 Brown Bridge Rd). Deputy Windom and I arrived and met with the caller, [VICTIM #1], and her fiance, [VICTIM #2].

I immediately noticed that both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] had dried blood on their arms and clothing. [VICTIM #2] was also holding his right hand in a tee shirt. When Murray County Fire Dept. personnel and Advent Health EMS personnel examined [VICTIM #2]’s hand, I was able to observe that he had a significantly deep laceration on the top of his right hand (approximately 1 inch to 3/4 inch long) and I observed what appeared to be a bone or bones showing from within the laceration. Medical personnel quickly bandaged the injury and advised that [VICTIM #2] be transported to a higher level of care. During this time, [VICTIM #2] made statements that he had lost the ability to move, feel, or lift the middle finger of his right hand and that he believed this to have been caused by the injury on his hand. This injury was wrapped in bandages before I was able to take a photograph of it but it was recorded on my body-worn camera.

[VICTIM #1] advised me that she and [VICTIM #2] had been at their residence, [200 BLOCK] Nightwind Dr, on this evening when the other resident of the home, Nathaniel Silvers ([VICTIM #2]’s father), began to exhibit signs of intoxication and argue with [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2]. [VICTIM #1] advised that Nathaniel had a history of alcohol abuse and that he had been drinking whiskey that evening. [VICTIM #1] stated that Nathaniel told her to “Get up” and demanded that she clean and and do laundry. [VICTIM #1] advised that she told Nathaniel that she would do so once she and [VICTIM #2] finished eating and watching television. [VICTIM #1] advised that [VICTIM #2] then stepped in to defend [VICTIM #1] and that the argument resulted in [VICTIM #2] and Nathaniel becoming more heated. [VICTIM #1] described Nathaniel’s behavior as extremely violent and frightening.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Nathaniel used a closed fist and swung at [VICTIM #2]’s face and that [VICTIM #2] avoided the blow and shoved Nathaniel away. She advised that the two then began to fight and that she tried to step in to the middle of the fight and separate the two. [VICTIM #1] advised that, at some point in the altercation, Nathaniel had also placed his hand on her face and shoved her towards a wall and also grabbed her by her wrists and squeezed very tightly before shoving her away again. I observed visible, red bruising on [VICTIM #1]’s right forearm and wrist area that corroborated this statement. I will attach a photograph of this injury with this report.

She also stated that during this fight, Nathaniel had either pushed or struck [VICTIM #2] in a way that [VICTIM #2] fell back into the oven within the home’s kitchen. She advised that the oven was partially disassembled, leaving sharp metal edges protruding out from the oven door area of the appliance. [VICTIM #1] advised that [VICTIM #2] fell back and struck his right arm on one of these sharp metal edges, which lead to the deep gash in his hand.

[VICTIM #1] advised that [VICTIM #2] was eventually able to kick Nathaniel away and that both she and [VICTIM #2] ran to a bedroom and locked the door behind them. [VICTIM #1] advised that Nathaniel charged at them before the door was closed and then beat on the door and screamed at them. [VICTIM #1] advised that she feared for their lives, so she opened the bedroom window, kicked out the screen, and jumped out of the window. [VICTIM #1] stated that she yelled for [VICTIM #2] to jump out also and that he eventually did so. [VICTIM #1] stated that the two then left the residence and came to the Dollar General.

I then interviewed [VICTIM #2] briefly and he advised of the same account of events as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] were transported to Murray Medical Center for further evaluation by Advent Health Medic Unit 1.

At this time, Deputy Windom and I traveled to [200 BLOCK] Nightwind Dr, where we met Nathaniel in the front lawn of the residence. Nathaniel did not appear to be surprised to see us at his home and was willing to speak with us about this incident. As Nathaniel came closer to me, I smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Nathaniel advised that he held no ill will towards his son, [VICTIM #2], but that he had an issue with [VICTIM #1]. Nathaniel advised that he allowed [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] to stay at the property but that [VICTIM #1] did not want to help out or clean the residence. Nathaniel advised that [VICTIM #1] caused an argument and then reluctantly admitted that the actual physical fight only occurred with [VICTIM #2].

Nathaniel advised that [VICTIM #2] started the fight by swinging at Nathaniel first. Nathaniel kept trying to redirect the conversation away from the actual events of the fight and insisted that Windom and I come in to his home to see how dirty it was and that we would then “understand”. Nathaniel was advised that [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] were at the hospital being evaluated for injuries. Nathaniel did not act surprised, ask follow-up questions, or show any concern for his son and his son’s fiance being admitted to a hospital. When asked, Nathaniel admitted freely that [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] had left the residence through the bedroom window. Nathaniel advised that this may have been because [VICTIM #1] was “from Virginia” and that this behavior must be normal there.

I asked to see if Nathaniel had any injuries on his person and observed that his right elbow was bleeding slightly and that he had red markings on the right side of his middle back area (normally covered by his shirt). These injuries were captured on my body-worn camera.

From where I stood in the front lawn of the home, I observed the far left, front-facing window to have a damaged and oddly-hanging window screen. I left Windom with Nathaniel outside and stepped in to the residence (after receiving explicit permission to do so by Nathaniel). I observed that the oven in the kitchen was missing pieces from its oven door, leaving sharp metal edges, and found a section of the oven door that had dried blood on it. I then observed a slight increase in blood droplets leading from the kitchen to a locked bedroom door on the same side of the residence where I had observed the oddly-hanging window screen. I observed significant amounts of dried blood on the walls and floor directly around this bedroom door, as well as on the locked bedroom door itself.

I then stepped out of the residence and placed Nathaniel under arrest (handcuffs double-locked and fit to size). Nathaniel was placed in to the backseat of my patrol vehicle, where he was transported to the Murray County Jail and turned over to the jail’s booking staff. Prior to transport, Deputy Windom and I used Nathaniel’s water hose to extinguish a small fire that Nathaniel had burning in his front lawn.

After turning Nathaniel over to the jail booking staff, I traveled to Murray Medical Center, where I spoke with [VICTIM #1] once again. She advised that hospital staff had advised that it was believed that a tendon or ligament had been severed in [VICTIM #2]’s hand, which lead to the lack of feeling or function of his right middle finger. She stated that he would receive stitches to close the wound and that he would have to see a specialist to further assess the injury.

I will be pursuing the following arrest warrants for Nathaniel:

-1 count of OCGA 16-5-23.1: Battery (Family Violence)
-1 count of OCGA 16-5-24: Aggravated Battery (Family Violence)
