On 08/23/2022 I, Deputy Burchfield, was conducting area patrols on HWY 52 when I gained knowledge that Chatsworth PD had to respond to a subject by the name of Randal Walkey causing a disturbance at Murray Medical Center and was dropped off on HWY 52 near the Saddle Club and was under the influence of methamphetamine. The subject had stated that he was staying under the bridge because he was homeless.

I was also notified by Chatsworth PD that the subject was supposed to have a 5 to 7 inch knife on him and that he had already stated that law enforcement would have to shoot him. It was also confirmed by toxicology that the subject was under the influence of Methamphetamine and marijuana.

As I approached the bridge the subject was standing on the side of the road and was acting very erratic with incomprehensible speech that is common with the use of methamphetamine. The subject began to walk in the road and I advised him to step out of the road. He then began to walk away on the roadside as I exited my patrol vehicle. I followed the subject and told him to stop walking away and to once again stay out of the roadway.

The subject crossed the roadway multiple times before I was able to get him to comply. I ordered him to sit on the ground which he did and then asked about the knife he had on him. The subject had the knife wrapped in white blanket that he was carrying. He unrolled the blanket and the knife fell to the ground. I retrieved the knife and placed it at a safe distance away from the subject. At this time Deputy Hall arrived on scene.

Once Deputy Hall was beside me, I ordered the subject to roll over on the ground and placed him under arrest. I placed Mr. Walkey in the back of my patrol car. Deputy Hall asked Mr. Walkey if he would like for us to place the knife under the bridge where he was living. Mr. Walkey stated just throw the knife into the woods that he didnt want a kid to find the knife. The subject was then transported to the Murray County Detention Center and turned over to detention staff.
