On May 10th, 2025, I responded to a homeless subject call, the manager called to say a woman came into the CVS wearing nothing, but a t-shirt and crying for help and her boyfriend tried to kill her. Upon my arrival, I made contact with one of the staff members and they took me right to the subject. She was indeed crying and thanked me for my response. I did observe she was struck in the face because of the swollen lip she had and as well as smaller bruises.

She stated the fight began because the offender asked to have sex and she declined. When she declined, she said he began to beat her. In the middle of the scuffle, the offender took off her pants and underwear. Even though she was fighting, she said she managed to get away. She was able to help identify the offender. She told myself and responding deputies about their encampment they had, but after we searched the camp area, he was not on location.

The victim did wish to seek treatment but due to the call volume, EMS was backed up so I transported her to the hospital. Upon arriving there, she was admitted into the emergency room. She was given a case number and information on how to obtain a copy of the incident report.

A Newton County Sheriff’s Office investigator was notified of the incident.
