On August 11th, 2023, at approximately 21:22 hours, I responded to a discharge gun in the area of Arthurs Lane in Covington, GA, 30016.
Upon my arrival, I spoke with the complainant at the front of the neighborhood of Arthur’s Lane, and she stated that while sitting in her vehicle on Arthur’s Lane, she saw a green dot in front of her vehicle, and then she heard 5 to 6 gunshots. I then followed the complainant to the area where she was sitting in her vehicle.
Once at the area of Arthur’s Lane where the complainant was in her vehicle, I searched the street for shell casings. As myself and other deputies searched for shell casings, we noticed a black male and a black female sitting on their front driveway.
Through further investigation, myself and other deputies questioned the male and female and discovered eight shell casings in the male’s front right pocket. The male stated that he did point the gun to the roadway with the green dot and that he shot some rounds into the woods beside his residence.
I also noticed that both the male and female were under the influence of alcohol beverages that were sitting infront of located on their driveway. I then found the two handguns that the female was sitting on in the front driveway. She also stated that she shot three rounds into the woods.
I arrested the male and female; both were transported to the Newton County Jail. I obtained warrants, and all evidence was put into the evidence locker at the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
