On 8/4/2026, at approximately 1413, I, Dep. Glenn initiated a traffic stop on Epps Bridge Pkwy and Dowdy Rd on a vehicle bearing the license plate [REDACTED]. Prior to the stop, I noticed that this vehicle remained stopped at the traffic signal after it turned green. I entered the license plate into GCIC/NCIC, and was alerted that the registered owner’s driver’s license was revoked for an out-of-state suspension for a per se DUI arrest in North Carolina.
On my initial approach to the vehicle, I confirmed that the driver was the registered owner, Kent Timmerman. I asked Mr. Timmerman to step out of his vehicle, and watched as he slowly exited. As I placed him into handcuffs, I smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. I searched Mr. Timmerman incident to arrest, then secured him into my vehicle.
Mr. Timmerman opted to leave his vehicle parked in the parking lot of Mavis Tires and Brakes. At the jail, I read Mr. Timmerman the Miranda warning, and he agreed to speak with me. I told him that I smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, and asked how much he had to drink prior to driving. He said, “Not much.” When asked how much that was, he told me he had a few drinks, but would not specify the amount. I asked if he would blow into my portable breath screening machine, and he refused. I asked Mr. Timmerman how old he was, and he told me 64. I read him the Notice of Implied Consent for suspects over 21, and he consented to the testing of his blood.
I took Mr. Timmerman to St. Mary’s hospital, where he submitted to the state administered chemical testing of his blood. At the hospital, Mr. Timmerman made several spontaneous utterances. He told me he normally worked long hours, and was taking care of his disabled wife. He said he got off earlier than usual, and drank too much. He told me he drank vodka and lemonade, and that was all he pretty much did at home after taking care of his wife. Mr. Timmerman told me he had a strong drink before driving.
While speaking on his previous arrest, Mr. Timmerman told me he thought the case was over with, but failed to follow up with the Department of Driver Services in Ga upon getting his license back in North Carolina. The blood kit was logged into evidence. I confiscated his driver’s license, and served him with an Official Notice of License Suspension/Revocation form.
