On June 1, 2026, I, Dep. Lariscy, responded to the jail lobby in reference to a reported domestic violence incident that allegedly occurred on May 20, 2026, at a residence on Pete Dickens Rd. During the investigation, the victim reported that an argument with an “on again off again” boyfriend escalated into a physical altercation inside the home.
According to the victim, the suspect allegedly assaulted her multiple times during the incident, causing injuries to several areas of her body and resulting in damage to the residence. The victim provided photographs documenting her injuries and property damage, as well as video recordings captured during and immediately after the incident. During my interview with the victim on June 1, 2026, I observed visible residual redness and injury to her neck, which was consistent with the injuries she described sustaining during the assault.
The victim informed me that her ten-year-old child was present inside the residence during the incident and was able to hear the disturbance from an adjacent room. Evidence obtained during the interview included the victim’s statement, cell phone video footage, photographs of injuries, and photographs of property damage. Due to the nature of the allegations and evidence obtained, Criminal Investigations Division personnel were notified and consulted regarding the case.
Based upon the victim’s statement and corroborating evidence, probable cause exists to believe the suspect committed the offense of Aggravated Assault by knowingly impeding the normal breathing and circulation of blood of the victim by applying pressure to her neck during the assault. The victim reported being strangled by the suspect during the incident, and the injury observed to her neck, along with the photographs and video evidence provided, corroborated her account.
Probable cause also exists to believe the suspect committed the offense of Battery (Family Violence) in that the suspect intentionally caused substantial physical harm and visible bodily harm to the victim, a person with whom he shared a residence with and had a relationship, as evidenced by the victim’s injuries, photographs, video recordings, and statement.
Additionally, probable cause exists to believe the suspect committed the offense of Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree in that the suspect committed a forcible felony, specifically Aggravated Assault, within the presence of a child under the age of eighteen. The victim stated her ten-year-old child was present inside the residence and was able to hear the assault as it occurred.
Based on the victim’s statement, physical evidence, documented injuries, video recordings, and other corroborating information obtained during the investigation, probable cause was established for charges of Aggravated Assault, Battery (Family Violence), and Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree. Arrest warrants have been approved through the Oconee County Magistrate Court.
