Officer’s Narrative:

On [JUNE] 25th, 2026, I, Deputy Valentine-Nelson #1307, took a report in reference to an assault that occurred at [900 BLOCK] Macland Road on this date at approximately 0330 hours and 0430 hours.

The victim, [VICTIM #1], advised that she was at her friend’s house, located at the incident location, hanging out with her friend, [REDACTED], and her ex-boyfriend, the suspect, Camari Burrough. [VICTIM #1] stated that [REDACTED] went to bed, and she was hanging out with Camari on the back porch, located on the rear end of the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that Camari was trying to get back together in a relationship, but due to their history, which she called “red signs” (red flags), she denied getting back together with Camari.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she then turned around and attempted to go inside, and Camari grabbed her around the neck, from the back, and restricted air flow. [VICTIM #1] stated that Camari told [VICTIM #1] she was going to kill her and then slammed her onto a table and onto the ground, causing lacerations on multiple locations, such as her elbows, knees, shins, legs, and back. [VICTIM #1] stated that when she was slammed onto the table, she also hit her head and shoulder on a chair.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she was able to fight Camari off of her, get up, and begin banging on the door to wake up her friend, [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] came out after the physical altercation and unlocked the front door so Camari could leave. According to [VICTIM #1], Camari grabbed her white Android smartphone and left with it, without [VICTIM #1]’s permission. [VICTIM #1] stated that [REDACTED] needed to unlock the door for Camari because the door was deadbolted on both sides due to an autistic child being in the residence.

While speaking with [VICTIM #1] at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, [VICTIM #1] showed me all the lacerations on her body caused by Camari assaulting her. I had a female deputy, Corporal Griffin, assist me by taking pictures of her back in a private area to give [VICTIM #1] privacy due to it being a private area and her being a female. Corporal Griffin advised me that there were red markings on the back of her neck/higher back area that looked as if skin was rubbing together, causing the markings, which line up with [VICTIM #1]’s testimony that Camari grabbed her from behind.

[VICTIM #1] also showed me text messages over Snapchat where initially Camari denied taking the cell phone, but later admitted that the cell phone was at his house and was asking [VICTIM #1] if he could bring it back to her. [VICTIM #1] stated that she does wish to have charges sought for Aggravated Assault by Stangulation and Theft by taking (M). [VICTIM #1] stated that she did not call at the time of the assault due to past trauma from a different relationship and was scared at the time. [VICTIM #1] also noted that Camari does carry a weapon and often multiple drugs, including 1-2 ounces of marijuana and ecstasy.
